Selling players is a problem...

For everyone nowadays..trying to sell 'deadwood ' players at clubs is proving more and more difficult each season.
A lot of teams are going to have to take financial hits to get certain players off their books imo.. unless it's the top 6 in the PL or the top 2 of the other leagues, everyone else is broke..so get used to your 'deadwood" hanging around

cant really expect other teams to pay up for players you deem not good enough to play for your own team, unless its Everton but they cant really spend money yet

Why have you tagged Man Utd in -- oh right. Of course.

Everyone outside the top 6 is broke? West Ham, Villa, Everton, Newcastle aren't exactly shy when it comes to spending money, Fulham are already opening the wallet, Palace, Wolves and Leicester have funds.
The issue isn't money, it is the deadwood are undesirable.

Always been the case.

Players also becoming more and more willing to run contracts down to attract a 'sign on payment' and high wage packet where clubs do not have to pay a transfer fee or look to keep a player they already have.

Those clubs reliant on player sales to help balance their books are going to have to rethink a bit, particularly those top clubs who are usually 'selling down' an unwanted player.

Will also make clubs think long and hard about wages because in many cases its the wages that make it hard to shift the player if they do not want to take a pay cut - linked to the above about a growing willingness to see out contracts.

its always high salaries that make these unwanted players hard to shift.
top six players could very desirable to lower half teams but there not going to blow their budget on ridiculous salaries.

Exactly Mont! Brandon Williams available for £10m, doesn’t seem unreasonable, but wait…he’s on £65k a week!

Wages matter a lot though. Liverpool have kept player value by keeping wages fairly sensible, particularly for their prospects/squad players.

Teams like United and Arsenal tend to completely feck up contract negotiations, usually by not renewing at the right time and giving the player all the power to rinse them.

It should go without saying that shifting overpaid players is far harder than guys who fit within the wage structures of a bigger pool of sides.
