When you look at the England team and their shenanigans, the French's off-the-pitch issues, and even Australia getting up to fisticuffs amongst themselves, I'm really proud of the Welsh boys for looking at this period and showing some restraint at the bar. I liked the way they said that the Poland camps were completely dry, and this has obviously worked for them and the squad has realised this so carried it on to the big stage.
Beer and rugby has always gone hand in hand. I know its a contentious issue - should Tindall have to apologise for going out and having drinks with some skirt? For a local team, that's between him and probably his missus. For your country... at a World Cup... I'm not so sure.
Wales have always had problems with drink. Henson. Andy Powell. Mike Phillips. Jamie Roberts. Bradley Davies. Andy Powell again. Henson a couple times more. And this was largely between our less than successful period of 2009-2011. Now the drinking has stopped, the tabloids aren't hounding us for the wrong reasons, and it just looks like everyone is focusing on the rugby.
So well done. I'm proud that you lads respect your country and your fans enough to put this ahead of your own personal enjoyment.
p.s. I'm sure this applies to all the other countries who have performed well - Ireland have kept out of the papers for example!
