With further rumours re-surfacing today that a deal is imminent for Djedd Spence, and now the revelations that ex-Spurs Walker-Peters has a buy back clause in his contract, and knowing WP has PL experience and is proven at this level, should Spurs try to tap up WP and follow that route of making an offical bid on him or ignore all that, and stay on Spence.
Rumours of Spence deal is around £15m + Add ons.
Spence agreement is scheduled to be done by the week-end.
WP or Spence?
Spence

Ignore that Sky Sports tweet if that's where you're getting your info. They've done that pretty much every week for the past six weeks. The truth is they've not got a clue. We're already in Korea. He likely won't be needed until they return so there's no benefit to getting the deal done now, which is probably why both Levy and Paratici are in Korea with Conte and the squad.
I think this is all part of the tactical process. All the time we're stalling Middlesborough and Wilder can't get any other business done. They'll need that 15-20m a lot more than we do. Chances are they'll cave soon and ring us up to finalise the deal but I have my doubts whether anything would have been done over the last couple of days.
Oh, and for what it's worth, I'd defo take WP back. He's a much better player now. My only worry would be whether he can play wing back. It's a specialised position. Even Trent AA struggles with it for England.
Did Forest play with wing backs or was he a left back last year?

According to the Forest lineup in the playoff final Spence was playing as a wing back.

Okay, well that's promising and makes me lean more for him than KWP.
In the past these guys from clubs behind us (lower prem or championship) have been our best buys. Wouldn't be surprised if he followed the same trend and really shone for us.

Maybe why this rumours is lingering for a player who on paper, has so little to offer

Never go back. Ain't that what they say ?
WP is same situation as Eriksen. We let both go for reasons, so why would we go back for them ? is WP better than what we already have, or more importantly better than what we could get given we have the money and the pull of CL and Conte.
Spence for the future yeah, but should be looking at a ready made, quality RWB, who is good to go now.
Eriksen. Nah, not for me. Haven't forgot how he effectively downed tools to force a move. Is now 2/3 years older and there are medical consideration.

Spence was a RWB - good skill, lightning speed, scores some great goals, but slightly suspect at defence (can get caught out quite easily)
Personally having watched him for a season - inthink he’s good value at £15M in today's market

KWP - too light weight for Conte
Spence - if he is who Conte wants then we should get him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think he's who Conte wants. He's who Conte accepts he has to have to fulfil home grown quotas. Hence the KWP rumour too.
I'm of the belief that the wing backs are crucial to the system so I don't really care if they're home grown or not, go out and get the best rwb we can afford. We can look to sign a homegrown player in another position maybe. That said, I don't know anything about Spence. Could be another Walker or Alli but could just as easily be another Clarke. No way of knowing. It's one hell of a gamble for such a vital position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No way of knowing? That's why you scout players. Clarke had a handful of games off the bench for Leeds in the Championship. He was a punt at a silly price. Spence has played a full season and had good showings against pl sides in the cup. Obviously there's no guarantee of anything when it comes to young players, but it's not all the same

Spence is far more dynamic than KWP, Middlesbrough are trying to force us to increase the money but at present time Spence is still developing and is unhappy his club are trying to play hardball.
