Spurs back in the premier European competition for the first time since 19/20, a 2 year absence, making it 5 times in the last 7 years - better than Utd (4), matching Chelsea and, of course, better than Arsenal (0).
Anyway here are a few facts and key dates about this seasons UCL.
- Live Coverage is exclusively on BT Sport
- Spurs are in Pot 2, along with Chelsea & Liverpool, plus Barca, Juve, A.Madrid, so can draw none of these teams in the groups.
- Pot 1 contains Real Madrid, PSG, Ajax, Porto, Man City, E.Frankfurt, AC Milan, Bayern Munich.
- Spurs could be drawn against all in Pot 1 bar City
- Other notables are, Pot 3: Dortmund, Inter, Napoli, Benfica* and Pot 4: Celtic & Rangers* (* have to qualify)
- Champions League Draw Thursday 25 August 2022
- Group stage match weeks: 6/7 Sept, 13/14 Sept, 4/5 Oct, 11/12 Oct, 25/26 Oct, 1/2 Nov. Usually these extend in to early December but are squeezed in due to the Qatar WC.
- These are the fixtures either side of Game week 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6:
Fulham(a) GW1 Man City (a) GW2 Leicester (h).
Arsenal(a) GW3 Brighton(a) GW4 Everton(h)
NUFC(h) GW5 Bournemouth(a) GW6 Liverpool(a)
- Draw for the knock out stages is on Monday 7 November 2022
- KO stages begin 14/15, 21/22 Feb 2023, 2nd leg 7/8/14/15 March
- Draw for the QF & SF, Friday 17 March 2023
- Quarter Finals - 11/12 & 18/19 April 2023
- Semi Finals 9/10 & 16/17 May
- Final 2023 - 10 June, Istanbul
SO, a little way off until we discover our fate in the draw and get going in the competition.
Early games are squeezed in amongst some tough fixtures with all of Arsenal Man City and Liverpool featuring either be4 or after a UCL game, but at least these teams will also have UCL or Europa participation to deal with too.
Looking forward to seeing us back in the big time and will be interesting to see what priority Conte gives it in his team selections

Notice how we play all the tougher sides away from home around the CL matches?
But yeah, there's no conspiracy against us
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If I said that, I would get half a dozen people saying "idiot, let's string that Stevef up by his toes within 20 minutes of me posting it.
That said, it will come as no surprise that I agree with the comment. The FA, or whoever agrees the fixtures schedule, should be helping all English teams in Europe, but sadly this will, as usual only apply to certain clubs.
While we are on the subject, does anyone want to bet that City, Liverpool and Chelsea, once again, all avoid each other in the domestic cup draws, at least until the semi's, when they have to play each other ??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
With hundreds of teams entering the two competitions, this is not a smart bet for anyone to take as the likelihood that 4 out of hundreds of teams will play each other is rather minute.

Honestly don't get how people can be this conspicuous all the time. Always thinking there's a conspiracy against the club.

I always think its fairer for the CL sides to play each other in the CL weeks anyway, rather than a midtable side in good form who have a week's rest.

Minor point but I would have referred to you as KarenF.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ooooooooh, I am sooooooo offended.
Seriously, that the best you can do ??
Is about on a par with Gooners calling us Spurts, over and over again, in the hope somebody is actually bothered.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry Steve. Couldn't help myself. Do you not get bored with this whole conspiracy jibber jabber?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I must admit I do like a moan every now and then, although nobody is going to change my mind about the Media. I mean, are you happy that they are, for the third season running, selling Kane off to someone. This time Bayern. That "story" came about because some useless journo went out of his way to ask a very loaded question of the Bayern manager, simply to create a story. Trouble is, it is once again picking up traction.
Tell you what though, I can be as gracious as the next guy, So if City, Liverpool or Chelsea draw each other in, say, the 3rd, 4th or 5th rounds of this coming season's FA cup, I will come on here and publically apologies, and maybe, just maybe concede the balls might not be heated after all.
Can't say fairer than that.

The Group Stages have to be wrapped up by the beginning of November.
Law of averages means that the 4 English clubs are likely to meet 1 or more of their rivals either just before or just after a CL game.
