And new Scottish JA Predictor Champion is…… The Duke
Huge congratulations to The Duke. Over the course of the season both he and JFK led for the most of it so it was fitting that the title went to one of them. In the end it wasn’t even close thanks to The Duke deciding to just smash the final week with a Bonus point week The bonus points weren’t crucial in the end though.
Top scorer of the week went to Penshawdave who runs the finest predictor league on JA (seriously check it out and get involved next season) A terrific score of 34 also got the bonus points and lifted PSD into the top 10 from 14th. Shizo with a terrific 29 was next best followed by GTB with 27 and a bonus. GTB just missed out on a top 10 place after a fine finish to the season. BB with 26, the Duke with 25, Call Sign with 24 and Palaver with 22 were the rest of the week’s best scores.
No real howlers for the final week with 4 players scoring 9. This meant that Ivan finished the season dead last like his beloved Dundee Utd. The relegation places were all but decided before this week and the gap between the bottom 3 and the rest only increased. The bottom 3 should hang their heads in shame and come back stronger next season (more on that shortly).
Only one forgetti Freddie this week and it was Ginger who had an end of season to forget. He sat around the 5th to 7th space for large parts of the season and then crumbled towards the end.
Looking at the final table, if you took the bonus points out then very little will have changed, in fact the gap from the top 6 to the rest would actually be greater, so the bonus points didn’t have the impact they have had in previous seasons.
As always I stand by for correction.
Next season will have a new host. Sometimes a hero comes along with the strength to carry on and you cast your fears aside as the predictor will survive. Welcome Jukeboxjunkie to the inner sanctum of predictions. I will handover the running later in the week and will help Juke in the background as and when he requires it. I expect there will be teething problems much like when I first started it almost 6 years ago but at least Juke has a starting point, I started with nothing Huge thanks to Juke for ensuring this enjoyable competition continues on.
In the 6 seasons I have run this, 62 different players have taken part. Only 11 have taken part in every season. Atheist started every season but only finished 2 sadly won’t be returning for next season
We have had 6 different champions-
17-18 Ghod (24 started, 22 finished)
18-19 Bluebell (40 started, 30 finished)
19-20 Earl (42 started, 35 finished)
20-21 Call Sign (40 started, 32 finished)
21-22 Lauders (36 started, 29 finished)
22-23 The Duke (37 started, 26 finished)
Only 2 players have finished in the top 3 more than once (JFK finished twice second while Bluebell had a win and a 3rd place)
It’s been a pleasure
