DPL v Salford C

Apart from a League Cup thrashing by Bolton, Salford are sitting pretty at the top of the L2 pile.

It looks as though they have had fairly comfortable wins at home and only one failure (against 10 men) at Swindon where they could only draw 0-0 to mar their record.

The only fancied team they have played has been Mansfield who seemed to have a bad day, but the fact is that they have generally taken their opportunities.

They have signed some good players for this level utilising their well-known financial resources and they will provide a serious test.

The utilisable player resources at the Eco Power are now increasing and we seem to be getting better coordinated as a team.

I think I will make the cautious prediction of a 1-1 draw (Miller, Rowe).

1-0 to rovers with Rowe to score

Still early days, is today's game the first real test of our progress/quality/ability?
A win today could give real momentum, not convinced that we will get a win though.
I agree with Donaldo's cautious approach.
Rovers 1-1 Salford
Miller to score ⚽

Steve Eyre was right. This year we have a plan B, C and D if things go wrong. Great spirit and a great win. Let's hope the injuries aren't too serious.

Looking forward to seeing the replay of the game because Salford were clearly a good team, probably the best we’ve played so far.

I was wondering whether Hurst had got what it takes and today he proved my doubts were unjustified.

Worries now about injured defenders, none about Faulkner - no loaning him out now!

Faulkner was amazing - a very, game mature, 18 year-old! It was great seeing him tell more senior players whom to mark!
That we finished with a back four of Biggins, Williams, Faulkner and Rowe and still kept a good team out, says a lot.
The game was well managed by Gary McS, especially as were dire for about 30 minutes.
Hopefully a week with no mid-week games will help our injured to have time to recover.
If we remain undefeated after next Saturday, I'll have some real optimism, and if we win...
😎🥂

As I've said before. We always score after Bobby Faulkner comes on. He's a real prospect so let's hope he starts against Northampton and we score first for once. GMs set up at the start of the game was flawed as he should have know of the threat down the wings, especially the right hand side. Apart from that great response. Albeit brought on by injuries.

Just watched the highlights of The Weeds win over Chelsea. While I'm not really much of a fan of Leeds (was during their Golden Years under Don Revie), I've never been a fan of Chelsea, and so I really enjoyed it. Any Yorkshire team putting one over a London team has to be good!

Leeds-Chelsea brings back memories of the Old Trafford Cup Final replay when Chelsea, outplayed in both games, won with a Webb header. I remember feeling that this was brutal robbery which was just another instance of what happened to them so frequently. Gary Sprake’s mistakes must have cost them dearly too, but Revie could never see him as a liability but rather “one of the finest goalkeepers in Europe”. Quite apart from that, they never seemed to get the results they deserved. It is a bit unjust that they seem to be remembered for the uncompromising tackling of Norman Hunter etc. There was far more to them that that.

Relegated to League 1, I suppose it was the arrogance of their fans and the dubious financial dealings and mysteries surrounding their owners plus their unjustified sacking of managers which set all the football world against them, but Bielsa and the style he instilled slowly made me want to see them rewarded again. So, since they have been back in the top flight I have found myself willing them on.

I have seen the Red and White Show and Steve Eyre was impressive in talking strategy; managing a football team is no longer monosyllabic.
