We’ve spent ridiculous money, but if it keeps us up and we become established - it will be money well spent

Still a heck of a lot of money
A gamble yes, but the hierarchy obviously feel it’s one worth taking

I like him to be honest. Would have kept him ahead of a couple of others, Podence and Hwang but we can't turn down that kind of money for what is only potential right now.

Is Mendes his agent?

Ridiculous sum of money. I guess that is the price you have to pay these days for someone who is English and white. Well half white. Half gibbs.

According to Ornstein writing in the Athletic it's £25M upfront with £7M -£10M in likely additions, the rest is harder to achieve over the long term.
Very similar to the deal Wolves turned down; the lad has obviously made it plain that he isn't staying, so they're cashing in with a little additional longterm sweetners to make it look more than it likely is?
Just need to buy Jimmy now and job done?

In Cooper we trust. First choice target from the moment we got promoted, Marinakis has really backed him to the hilt. Who knows Cooper may even sign a new contract himself, it would be really something if he didn’t. It’s an awful lot of money but Cooper has known MGW for a long time and obviously thinks its value for money. I guess we wont be signing Maupay, Aouar or Garner, that really must be an empty war chest by now. If the unthinkable happens, we’d have one hell of a team in the championship next season, though i don’t see that happening now.

I think John Percy is quoting very similar figures.
I think we have to get used to these figures; transfer record will probably be blown away next summer if we are still in the Prem. But fewer players will need to be signed

One other thing, there is a premium of at least 10-15% for young homegrown talent, even Man City know that, hence £100m for Grealish who isn’t worth anything near that figure, but that’s the market these days. Wolves had paid decent money for established FOREIGN internationals, who are also older than MGW. I still can’t believe we’ve just smashed our transfer record, crazy times, but you’ve got to love them, they may never happen again, certainly signings of the number we’ve made.
