Ruslan Malinovskyi

Ruslan Malinovskyi has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur, according to Tutto Atalanta, with Spurs still negotiating a fee for the Atalanta star.

The report claims that Malinovksyi has already ‘said yes’ to Tottenham, and Atalanta are willing to let him go as well but on their terms rather than Spurs’.

Tottenham would like to sign Malinovksyi on loan with a purchase option, but Atalanta are not interested. Instead, they would prefer to sell him for a fee of at least £16.9 million, and if that is not possible, they would prefer to do a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause rather than an optional one. As a result, the two clubs are ‘distant’ at the moment, but Atalanta’s willingness to at least negotiate a loan deal suggests that they can get closer.

Malinovskyi is said to be planning to make the switch in the coming weeks. The ball is now in Tottenham’s court to try to reach an agreement with his club on a fee.

In his last three league seasons, the midfielder has 43 goal contributions, serving as a consistent source of attacking output for Atalanta – while also being capped by Ukraine on 49 occasions and scoring seven goals. If this deal goes through, Tottenham fans will be thrilled, as Malinovskyi could be that missing creative piece of the puzzle and a much cheaper option compared to the other players linked with Spurs.

I know one shouldn’t be swayed by YouTube footage, but honestly this guy has a magnificient shot on him. He has great strength, pace and is extremely good on the ball. For the money, around £16m I think he would be a bargain.

Ukrainian footballers are also tough and therefore the PL should not be a problem for him. Conte will also get some vital information from Romero as he played with him at Atalanta.

Hope not, much rather Maddison. For all the 150m talk, we haven’t done a marquee signing we wouldn’t have been able to/haven’t done before

No idea why they announced that. Fuel for the transfer rage fire

They legally had to

As a public company they are legally bound to announce certain financial decisions.👍

Not sure they ever specifically said it was a war chest either. That was just invented by this forum.

No the statement was something along the lines of ‘for investment both on and off the pitch’. So it’s absolutely not purely a £150m transfer fund, but you just know a whole load of supporters if our net spend this window is isn’t around the 150 mark….

If we really need this player, why doesn't Levy just make a cash offer (low of course because the guy si 29) and be done with it. Why all this loan futsing around?
I think someone doesn't want him.

Seems a more logical fit tbh. Granted I'd never heard of the guy until we were interested, but he seems like a bit of a one trick poney and he's getting on in his career

Sounds like he's not our main target. If we want a Zaniolo or a Maddison but cannot get them right now, then a loan to buy option fills that gap without any big outlay.

Same with the defenders. If Bastoni is the guy we want at LCB then may be we are prepared to wait and Lenglet fills the gap.

If they are a great success then great. If not, then we move on.

With these massive sums of money on key signings I'd rather we get the man we want, even if that takes time, but fill the position with a temporary option....bit like LFC did with VVD, or Utd which Sancho...oh, wait

looks a decent player, technically very good and looks to have physical attributes to play in the PL. Reminds me a bit of Kulu but in more of a central role.... technically excellent, can see a pass and knows where the goal is... only downside... looks very left footed... hopefully he's more Kulu than Coco Lamela !!!

Reckon this would be a terrific signing.
