Has Rodgers Gone?

I Hope so

posted on 22/8/22

Apparently we can't afford to buy any players until a sale is made? Despite all the speculation, this is not a new situation (in the last 6 years Kante, Drinkwater, Mahrez, Maguire and Chilwell have gone for large transfer fees); what is different is that we haven't been able to offload anybody yet.

I also wonder if the hiatus in the recruitment department means that the management are uneasy with any potential splashing of the cash.

I'm not generally in favour of sacking managers so early in the season, but increasingly it either doesn't look like Brendan wants to be at the club anymore or he realises his time is coming to a close and is minimising the impact on the Rodgers brand of our poor start. I was considerably annoyed on Saturday when we retreated back to being defensive after taking the lead - with the seemingly inevitable consequences of again handing the game to the opposition. From Brendan's post match comments this wasn't his tactics, it was the players who decided to do this as they were nervous about trying to win the match? Brendan, you're the manager on the sidelines watching them do that just like we could see it happening - FFS do something about it rather than just standing there!

Just a thought, given that we have financial constraints on us at the moment, how could the club afford to pay off Brendan if they give him the heave ho?

I'm not so sure, after all we managed to attract Ranieri.

I don’t recall Rodgers ever being what you call ‘demonstrative’ on the sidelines, but if the players started playing it their own way instead of the manager’s, I can’t imagine, say Jesse Marsch, for example just standing by and watching on.

He tells more Lies than Boris to defend his brand, we all know going defensive after taking the lead is clearly Rodgers Ball.

More silverware than Spurs in the last 14 years, not bad for a 2 bit little club.

Do managers act like some players, do a bad job, get the sack, ( sold for players) a nice pay off, then get another job. (Club)

I think Rodgers problem is playing his way & not the way that works for the players he’s got.

I hope he's gone, the earlier the better. You cannot play three good games without creating a chance for your strikers and act comfortable about it. If Vardy plays for any of the big teams he'll challenge for the Golden boot every season, he has the best goal per game ratio last season, but why on earth can't the manager provide a systems that connects to Vardy continuously. I hope they're searching for a tactician and a fighter manager to replace Rodgers, his time is up

The whole situation with regard to the way they play, the team selection process is all a bit mystifying. You really need to know what goes on at Seagrave during the week to even begin to understand it.

How Amartey gets above Soyuncu and Vestergaard in the pecking order is beyond me. Nothing against Daniel, bless him; he’s not lacking in height, athleticism or endeavour, but as Martin Keown made clear on Saturday, he’s not a natural central defender.

Dennis Praet: obviously not part of Rodgers’ preferred options; not sure why. Clearly a talented player, regular Belgian international and has shown up really well in pre season. Still can’t get a game. ???

Barnes: very talented but most of the time when he receives the ball, it’s behind him rather than giving him something to run on to. You only had to watch Maximin against Kyle Walker (no slouch) to see what havoc gets caused when that happens.

Ayoze: if he gets to play, it’s on the right, which doesn’t really suit him or the team. Not sure why we don’t give him a go up front alongside Vardy instead of Iheanacho or Daka.

Tielemans: brilliant to begin with but not at it at the moment. Asked to play a lot deeper during Ndidi’s absence last year, so fair enough, but that’s not the case now. Is this a repeat of what happened with him at Monaco?

Perhaps if we could see what goes on in training we might be a lot wiser!
