Bergwijn & the Dutch League

A player I always liked at Spurs, from his debut when he scored against City.

Seemed to offer a lot of attributes in attack, but clearly not fancied by Conte, for whatever reason. We did well to get our money back on the sale.

He played 60 league games at Spurs and scored just the 7 goals across 2.5 seasons. None more important than the 2 he got in the 95th and 97th minute at Leicester to earn a vital 3 points. A 3 points that made a big difference come May:

He's now at Ajax and they sit atop their league with 3 wins from 3 games and Bergwijn is the leagues top scorer already with 4 goals, playing from the left attacking position as he did at Spurs. Already has a hattrick to his name.

Pleased for him seems to have found his happy place in a league that, lets face it, will let these sorts of players shine. And he'll get the chance to play Champions League footy too...its possible we could draw them as they are in Pot 1.

Plays regularly for the Netherlands and scores for them as well. I don’t think he was out of his depth at Spurs, just never got a proper run out. No idea why.

Son was ahead of him and on fire last season, Bergwijn was rated by Conte but wasn’t gonna get ahead of Son.

The PL is one of the toughest leagues in the world, with a lot of quality players across all clubs.
We’ve seen so many stars who have shone in other European leagues join the PL and not lived up to their expectation and hype.
Pleased for Bergs - hope he does well and we get to
Meet him in the CL at some point!!

Mane is en route to match Lewa like totals in Germany. That is another inflated league.

He's a good player, but joined the club at the wrong time. Mourinho destroyed his confidence.

Imo at a mid to lower prem club starting every week he would do very well. Has the hold up play and strength for the prem, and with a bit of confidence his finishing would improve.

Essentially we’ve replaced him with richarlison right? So in reality despite what everyone is saying, has our attacking depth really had a massive increase

He provides cover Kane so it’s improved our depth somewhat and has more in his locker than Bergwijn
