Assuming that we complete the Anthony deal, how are we all rating the window so far? I reckon it has been a good one. Probably an 8/10 for me so far. Would still love us to sign a couple more, but Rome wasn't built in a day. Despite what some of our posters think, its unrealistic to buy 8-10 first team players in a window considering the fees we pay. I think it has been a good start to ETH's reign so far.

I'd be content with Dalot for the meantime if it meant getting in a better GK because I think it's a bigger problem for us than RB.

I’ve been disappointed because we’ve not brought in a cm to help build up play, a right back or a keeper that isn’t shiiiiit with his feet. Ronaldo still being at the club is a massive negative as well. I do like the signings we’ve made, they just aren’t the priorities I think we should have been addressing.

While I agree, we did need a CDM + CB. Also did need another winger. LB was also another problem.
The issue was that there were a lot of mess to fix, it couldn't be all done. Another CM would be great this window, RB and GK can wait til January or next Summer.

Paul McKenna is the hypnotist guy isn't he? Perhaps we should hire him...

hahahha
He is, isn't he. He certainly had Ole under his spell.
Kieran McKenna.

Well yeah that is the problem. I just think a keeper, right back and progressive midfielder were really big issues that needed addressing more than other areas.
I suppose the problem is that we’ve still not moved on enough players either. Pereira is the only one we’ve sold, and he wasn’t a first team player anyway. Letting contracts run out wasn’t exactly good business.

It doesn't take long for things in football to change. If we're performing more consistently on the pitch and De Jong is still being treated like shiiit and isn't a guaranteed starter at Barcelona it's possible he might change his mind about coming in the near future but chasing him for three months this summer was just incredibly brainless as it seems pretty clear he never had any intention of joining us which just begs the question wtf were we doing and I include the manager in that.
--------------------------------
Given that it increasingly looks as thought FDJ had no intention of leaving Barca, our pursuit of him does look to be staggering.
The only possible thing I could say in the club's defence is that whilst FDJ maybe didn't want to leave, he may have been forced out of the door due to Barca's circumstances and we wanted to position ourselves at the front of the queue. But then that begs the question... Who was the alternative signing? There doesn't appear to be one. Casemiro isn't the alternative to FDJ given they are very different players (who would compliment each other brilliantly).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unless ETH has changed his tactics after experiencing the PL first hand?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If I had to guess, the club probably felt that they could get away with one of Fred or McT doing more of the donkey work in midfield but went for a clear upgrade once it became clear a player of Casemiro's stature was available. It's possible that this was influenced by the first couple of games but I think ETH would have known much earlier that that area of the pitch needed work and the squad needed some leaders & personality. The reality is we needed a deeper lying ball player and we needed a proper midfield general in there. We pursued one but got the other...
I'm curious who we might be looking at now that FDJ seems to be firmly off the table.

I’d be surprised if we go for another cm this summer sadly.
