Derby County 3 - 1 Grimsby Town - Papa John

Derby County v Grimsby Town

Section F

Tuesday 30th August

1900

Pride Park

Right, if someone can explain how this pizza cup works, please explain to me.

I understand that its like a 'group league' thing with one point for a draw, 3 (or 2?) for a win but one point each if its a draw after 90 minutes then into penalties and an extra point to the winner of the penalties...….geddit?

Then the next match but I'll attempt that when it comes round...

And why is it that the fixture is not even on the DCFC club fixture list or on my Outlook fixture calendar???

Still a chance for some fringier and poorly players to get some match practice - McGoldrick to start along with Liam Thompson and Kwaku Oduroh?

I will be going - East Stand only open - will be a sparse crowd - would have been nice for the club just to charge a token fiver.

And finally I know two bona fide Grimsby Town fans - one lives 3 doors down and the other is a colleague.

First XI: Loach (GK), Forsyth, Bird (C), Collins, Mendez-Laing, Roberts, Thompson, Sibley, Dobbin, Oduroh, Rooney.

Subs: Wildsmith (GK), Cashin, Knight, Barkhuizen, McGoldrick, Robinson, Cybulski

Had we a decent striker we would have 18 points by now. In fact the quality of strikers in Div one is generally abysmal. Obviously those with any talent have already moved on to higher leagues.

We have made enough decent chances to win every game so far. We have also made sufficient errors in defence to lose every game but fortunately the opposition hasn't had the quality to punish us.

On another topic I just read Strett's article on the Spurs game in which he states "Fears that Forest would be "slaughtered" by the bigger sides are proving groundless ". Think he spoke too soon.

That’s not actually strett, it’s a copy and paste from some blogger dog fan.

Strett can barely string two sentences together never mind paragraphs.

I was thinking that one of the upsides of being where we are is that 666 is a nicer environment, so let's leave well alone...........

'666' and 'environment' in the same sentence ?
Well done
