Just seen that Chelsea have signed Fonfana and some unknown(to me at least) CB for 80m a pop pretty much. With United also signing Antony for 80m PLUS a few days back it seems like 80m or is now the new 30m aka any player who might have an 8/10 chance of making it at a big club.
Madness!
For context I will add a list of players who went for 70-80m Euros in recent times.. There is a fair few duds in there to say the least!
How much is 80m anyway?

How about Sanco?

I wasnt able to find the official figure at the time he appeared in some lists not on others. The point is 80m is no longer seen as some huge number for a lot of clubs anymore and they are happy to drop 80m on a player who might not be the main man in their team and may even have to spend some time on the bench (Maguire anyone?!)

I haven't mentioned £ anywhere in my article, seems like you've just made that up to form an attack on some random person online lol grow up pal. Either join the discussion in a positive manner or do one.

€80m in 2014 was less than £61m with the euro conversion rate back then.
£80m today is €92.2m
So you should actually be comparing him to Neymar to Barca or Ronaldo to Real Madrid. If you ignore inflation of course.

Interesting that nearly half of the list would've been bad signings at half the price.

It's a bit of an odd list as it covers the last 21 years.

£80m is just enough to mug-off the buying club, bending them over without it getting totally embarrassing for them.

You see, this is what happens when players allow their agents to contract for their clients to be totally powered by Russian gas.
It has to be paid for.
