Genuine question.
I really do feel this role is too much for him. He came to the club with zero experience working as a technical director at club level.
A few years for the Brazil international team doesn't really compare, especially transfer negotiations.
I honestly can't remember who the last player was that he sold for a fee?
Sure, for some players it makes sense to cancel their contracts and get their wages off the books, but there has been a shocking amount of transfers where we should've have done better in recouping a fee.
Seems like all he's capable of doing is loaning out players or cancelling g their contract or recruiting Brazilian's
Bellerin, I cannot understand. He's 27, had a great season in Spain, has had loads of interest and is going to one of the freest spenders in Europe. Surely a fee is possible?
Is Edu unable to negotiate amongst the big dogs around Europe?
Would like to know what peoples opinions are of him

Barcelona managed to get €14m + a player for Auba.
A player we gave away for free to barca.. just 7 months ago … and we can’t get a penny for Bellerin?

Depends on the general stock of the player though J99. Sanchez was always going to have suitors willing to pay him silly money regardless of how poor he was toward the end of his time with us
Other players often don't have that luxury and will at least perform until they've at least agreed a decent contract with a new club.
Our problem though (bar stupidly high wages) is often that we make it so obvious players aren't wanted that clubs are fully aware they're nothing but a burden to us. Guys like Bellerin, Torreira, Pepe, Guendouzi, Auba etc may all be overpaid and unwanted long term but could've been used sparingly in the squad for depth. Instead we froze them out entirely so where's the incentive for anyone to bother paying for them when it's obvious we'd be better off letting them go free than holding out?

Thats on Arteta. I think thats a little bit on Edu learning how Arteta operates.
Its really better to send the player on loan or sell rather than sitting on the bench.
So eg. Arteta had a dossier on Auba. Now the club knew that so it was obvious that Arteta had issues with Auba at the start of last season. So that was the time to sell him and we may have got a fee. Edu has to be manage Arteta better and almost play master role between the players, their agents and the manager. Thats what David Dein used to do so expertly for so long!

We got Mkhi in return. What was he worth at the time £20m? So thats a loss of £40m so obviously Alexis peak was at the start of the season rather than 6 months later!

Shocking to think we've gone the entire summer without improving the CM position we desperately needed for the last few season. Left it until the last hours of the window to HOPEFULLY sort it out. Unbelievable
