Regardless of what they've spent I never take teams with a ground capacity of less than 45k seriously.
__________________________________________
What a dope.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
White Hart Lane - 36k for donkeys years!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also 70,000 plus for many years Brummie. And it was filled.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If it was regularly filled your all time average wouldn't be roughly half of that figure would it.
I'm sure you'll remember times when you got 10k and less.
Stamford Bridge used to hold 100,000 and filled that once up to over 20% capacity and racked up more 70,000 plus crowds than any other ground in the country until Old Trafford was extended to it's present capacity!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs all time average is still above Chelsea`s, despite only having 36,000 capacity for a number of years. During the late 40s, Spurs racked up quite a few 70,000 crowds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But not as many as Chelsea.
You're were a couple of thousand higher than us a few years ago but only because we spent 20 years of utter rubbish being relegated 3 times and almost ending up on Division 3.
Even Liverpools and Manchester Uniteds all time average didn’t surpass that of Chelsea until the mid 70s.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs averaged more than Chelsea for pretty much the whole of their history. Spurs were getting 70,000 crowds in the 2nd division. Chelsea most certainly were not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All that doesn't change the fact that Chelsea (pre Old Trafford extension) have recorded more 70,000 plus attendances than any other club in the country, up to 82,904!
Thank you for your attentiveness!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Brummie, you would have to be 70 plus to remember the last time Chelsea had a 70,000 crowd going through the gates at Stamford Bridge. Mostly their crowds for the past 73 years (my lifetime) have been between 8,000 and 40,000.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rubbish as ever Sandy.
Chelsea had 70k crowds long after Spurs stopped getting them (1964 vs 1952)
Chelsea for 60k+ crowds in late 60s-72, Spurs stopped getting over 60k early 60s.
And Chelsea got 55k crowds in mid 70s, Spurs stopped getting 55k early 70s
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs are getting 60,000 plus crowds back again. Whilst Chelsea are stuck with 30 000 crowds for donkeys years now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Noticed the gate at Chelsea today was less than 40k, was it a sell out?
I thought SB held 42k+?
Either way the stadium desperately needs sorting, what's the latest on the rebuild?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It hasn't held 42k for many a long year!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We all know that Brum but this is the bloke that says that West Ham (with their 4 major trophies and no league title ever) are bigger than us.It's all about the size of your ground apparently even when you rent it off the council, although obviously it wasn't all about that in 2017 when you've still got 1940's staunchions on the Shelf and only 36k capacity. These are the same fans that enjoy telling West Ham just how two-bob they are, because they've never won fack all and nothing since 1980. You couldn't make this blatant stupidity up.
The truth is Spurs will never get near us until they can win the Champions League a couple of times and I can't ever see them doing it even the once. Spurs have to boast about their ground coz it's the only thing that they can boast about, oh apart from the fact that they have won a few games at the start of this season and now think that they are Brazil. Let's just see if this temporary form transfers into actual silverware before we decide whether we are going to take them seriously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
West Ham don't even have a ground to call their own!

What makes me laugh is you've written an article boasting to Spurs fans about how financially doped you are then you don't like it when they respond with a few home truths.
You had less than 40k yesterday so it's perfectly reasonable to ask if the game was sell out? CFC has major stadium envy (I don't blame him so would I) and tries to make himself feel better with rubbish articles like this.
Chelsea can never hope to be as big as Spurs, Arsenal and West Han until they sort the stadium out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The capacity is down to 40,341 this season with remodelling for safe standing, which has reduced capacity from 42,500 to 41,800 down to 40,341. The biggest attendances we will get with no-shows will be 39900. Fewer for Champions League games when capacity is reduced further
It is a shame we can't follow the German model of safe standing 1:8 to 1 seat... the Yellow Wall grows from 14k to 25. Imagine your end growing from 18k to 30k: would be immense!
LFC will never let it happen

Quad, when was it reduced from 42,500? It's been a long time since I've known it that high and certainly not since safe standing was introduced.
It went from 41,800 down to it's present 40,341 at the start of last season when safe standing was installed.

Don't think the capacity has been over 42k for quite a few seasons, Brummie

Dunno why it sold out so quick. Prem games normally go in an hour or two, but Champions League games usually last a bit longer
