No football this weekend!

Looks like there will be no PL football this week as the nation goes in to extended mourning after the death of our Queen.

The Queen would not have wanted sport postponed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not the point is it. They are being postponed as a mark of respect towards her. Now I get not everyone is a Royalist, but I am sure they will surive the weekend without any football. I will.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps football could show its respect to the monarch in other ways than by simply silencing the games for a week?
Maybe show a video of her life and accomplishments by pre-match video to the assembled fans.
Then respect King Charles by having a band play God Save the King, fans singing along.
And then play the game.

Seems to me that would be a much better and more visible show of respect than just shutting down for a week?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You all sound like pathetic whining children. Football is off for a week, grow up and deal with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
explain why Horse racing and Rugby are not also off?
That's the point!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't watch football for one weekend
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not just that though is it?

Thousands of people will have made travel arrangements, booked hotels etc, Same with the Boxing that was scheduled for the weekend, all the preparation that has gone into that, all cancelled at short notice, it’s a massive inconvenience for a hell of a lot of people, people’s livelihoods depend on live sporting events but an old woman has died so let’s throw everything into disarray so as not to upset the establishment
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So?

I had travelled into London for a concert which was cancelled because of covid pre lockdown. You deal with it and move on.

"Me me me me me" is all you ever hear from this insufferable generation of people.

Aside from a mild inconvenience if you can provide one example of somebody's life who has been affected by missing one weekend of football fixtures then I'll be interested in having a conversation.

Right now you just sound like an entitled waste of space.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You sound like a sheep, go and put BBC news on and least for further instructions
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Pathetic.

Nah he is completely wrong on this one. He may have a few agreeing with him on a football forum, but the vast majority of the country are happy to show their respect by shutting down a few sporting events for a few days.

What does it achieve by shutting down football over the weekend??

Absolutely nothing.

You pay your respects by observing a minutes silence & wearing a black armband…

That’s it…Life goes on… it does not stand still… It never has!

Stops the proles from voicing any dissenting opinion. Couldn't shatter the illusion that the queen was a unifying universally loved force, now could we?
