I agree with the second poster it's ridiculous the football across the board has been postponed and again shows contempt for ordinary people that we have our calendars disrupted because a person from a rich family has died.

I have respect for her as a person for her sense of duty and undertaking that role at her young age but that is it! I don't know her or anyone who knew her.

I was more upset when Terry wogan died and felt a greater sense of a national treasure passing away than when the Queen died.

Sandy because of his age probably has been conditioned more to accept this 'rich family' as royalty not his fault.

In my opinion any working class person who has any sense of belonging or that they are part of something greater or noble or have some connection to that by simply being british have also been successfully brainwashed into a subservient allegiance to elitist conformity.

I am not a Royalist. Just think the Queen should be given the same respect I would to any other person that has just died, whether I know them or not.

I have only ever not respected one person that has died, and that was Thatcher.

Can't we have a 'now the dust has settled on the queens reign' article?

You could discuss where she performed particularly well, areas you were disappointed with, hopes for the new regime, potential transfers...

I’ve never watched one speech , nothing ….I have no connection to the royal family and the only one who had any consistent decency is now dead

The Queen is not any other person. The amount of people lining the route back from Balmoral shows you that. She was hugely loved and very popular, even if you think otherwise.

The authorities for once did absolutely the right thing and shut down football for ONE weekend.

Horse Racing, Rugby and Cricket did not stop their activities. They did better than that. They added a pre-event ceremony celebrating the Queen's life.
