Being a Leeds supporter, praising Man U legends doesn’t come naturally but this week Gary Neville spoke up for the less privileged in our society when condemning what he describes as the ‘immoral’ tax cuts announced by Kwasi Kwarteng and Liz Truss. Neville’s a wealthy bloke and one of those who stands to benefit most from the obscene tax cuts offered to the already rich, so with the stand he’s taken on behalf of the less well off, he deserves full praise and respect. Be nice to see other Prem players - past and present - come out in support.

You are defending them. And tax is most definitely a moral issue, particularly when the reason for the taxation and the consequences are considered. You cannot remove morals and ethics from these decisions.

How am I defending them?!
I just don't need to be lectured to by a footballer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He reckons he’s not a Tory because he’s no longer a member of the party, despite voting for them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s a southerner that supports Liverpool, tells you all you need to know - people like him have no substance, no character and no balls.

Because you’re trying to excuse their morally reprehensible policies by suggesting they could work and that morality has nothing to do with it, when it quite clearly does. Maybe you should listen to this footballer’s lectures, he sounds a lot more clued up on politics than you do.

I fully understand the mocking of Tory party voters, but people who've turned their backs on the party?
If you're actually interested in the welfare of the country, surely you should be promoting people turning their backs on the Tories?
Or are you just yet another bitter contrarian?

They could work, that's not beyond the realms of possibility. Even if it's an almighty stretch.
I don't need to listen to a footballer to know that taxes are not a moral issue. They are a political and economic issue.

All you do is defend the Tories, so you deserve to be mocked.
How are you even arguing this? Ethics has always come into politics and economics ffs. It’s not even debatable, it’s a huge part of both disciplines.

That's a bit unfair because what if I said that I don't need to be lectured by you? Neville just sharing his thoughts and you're doing the same thing on here. Why are you immediately calling it a lecture? To make it look bad or undesirable. Why should anyone listen to you then if Neville isn't worth listening to? I reckon he has a better understanding of these issues than you.
You come on here to read the views of common people but dismiss Neville like this. Doesn't make sense.

Neville is an idiot, the only reason he's being given a political stage is to make politicians look "down with the kids" by dragging in celebrities.
Tax is not a "moral" issue.
If, big if, these tax cuts do end up benefitting the wider population and economy as a whole which could still happen, then it's the right thing for the country.
If as expected everything goes to shiiiiit, it was the wrong thing and stupidity but not immoral.
I don't need to listen to an ex-footballer on complicated topics on economics and taxation.

“Tax is not a moral issue.”
Interesting.
The likes of Adam Smith, Hobbes, Locke, Hume, Montesquieu, Rousseau, Samuel Johnson, Kant, Russell, Heidegger and Sartre disagree with you.
But please, go on…

It’s ridiculous anyone would argue otherwise, you cannot isolate ethics from politics and economics.
It’s like saying slavery isn’t a moral issue.
