Jadon Sancho was once one of the most highly rated young players in the game. City wanted to keep him, but he was impatient to move on up, and headed to Dortmund, where he continued to develop. Then United swooped. How the feck have they managed to reduce such a promising young player to the absolute heap of timid mediocrity who played yesterday? Seriously how did you manage it? Is he saveable? Maybe put him back in the City academy for a year or so and see if there is anything saveable. Or is it too late?

He’s probably happy enough that he earns twice as much as Foden, no need to progress when you can put that on your SM CV

The Ed Woodward legacy sadly. Paying over the odds for transfer fees and salaries.

You could see from the off yesterday that the referee wanted to hand the game to City. Grealish dives over near Dalot... yellow card 1 min into the game. Malacia makes a tackle. Yellow.
We went to the Etihad and scored 3 times. Don't forget that. Most teams don't even have a shot on target... plenty to be positive about, just need a fairer referee next time.

and 11 better players. City declared at half time and took many of the key players off so they could rest for the tougher test v Copenhagen.

They gave a 21-year old a deal worth more than £90m over 5 years. All his dreams have come true.

Didn't City do this with Haaland?

There's been question marks over his attitude for a few years. Can remember whether Dortmund fined him but he definitely got in some bother with them a couple of times.

Haaland has bigger dreams. He wants to dominate world football.....Sancho dreams about his next haircut or tattoo.

United is a horrible club for a young player. Honestly any sensible young player should not join this club

Big fan of Jadon.
He's got a top skill set and insane balance. Rapid over 10 yards too but he is a system player and the games where he plays well Utd get his team mates near to him and games where he plays pretty anonymously such as yesterday there is rarely anyone within 20 yards of him.
If you look at how Haaland and Foden linked up yesterday, particularly for Foden's hattrick, then that is what he needs.

Sensible post. Everyone is free to argue about Sancho's ceiling - but it's clear enough from what is well known about him that we haven't regularly utilised his best attributes as a player to date. He has shown that he's better than most when part of an attacking system with players making intelligent runs around him. He reads attacking space and sees opportunities very well, and has the technical ability and balance to exploit these opportunities.
As SE85 said, playing next to Martial will benefit him. He could also do with more overlapping runs from the left back. Malacia has made an impressive start but I think we should expect much more from him in terms of attacking dynamism, which in turn will be possible if we can control possession better. More control of possession will also involve more midfielders in the attack, which can create further defensive instability that a player like Sancho can exploit.
All too often individuals get singled out for what are primarily weaknesses in the whole system.
