That's how much we've spent since promotion.
Who would win between our championship side that won promotion, or todays' team?

This will be another year of survival. Were a young team with some good players still to come into the team. Imo the one thing that won't improve with time is the manager

Sinisterra is outscoring saint raph
———————————————
what a really really strange comment
He has done absolutely nothing and shown, not a lot.
You cant judge a player for a purple patch, where they have got a few long range goals, no player keeps that up

In the same way you can't write off players after ten games.

The team that won promotion would win. Can't see the team we have now, coming anywhere near the 9th place, come May.
Yes, I know; there were a couple of additions to that team, but still

....Kalvin was/is my favourite player but he was out most of last season and would have been out most of the season so far, so £46 Million wasn't bad but you are correct that KP and Rapha are talents you can't easily replace until you have a city style budget.
Rapha's last day performance still haunts me as it is so glaring the hole he has left - same for a Kalvin long pass and plugging the defensive midfield.
If Sinisterra does half of what Rapha does it wil be great.

Was Rapha ever sent off?

For me the answer to the question who would win between our Championship winning side and todays team is answered quite simply by looking at the respective managers..
That team coached and led by Bielsa, by a country mile in my opinion

I actually quite like all the signings
but its what happens on the pitch that counts
And apart from Adams, there been very little

I see something in rasmus and sinisterra to build on. Adams and Roca have been solid.
The only new arrival I'm not sold on is Jessie.
Don't dislike him at all but the drop from bielsa is massive and was bound to show.

First game for a month but imo we were decent first half. Rodrigo had a good chance go just wide. Thought the ref was inconsistent and sinisterra's first yellow was a joke. Villa seemed to get away with what we were being called for. Not ideal playing the whole second half down a man.
No where near panic stations yet.

I think current team would win, just. But then, probably a close call. Given investment it's a good question being asked.
That said I do like the look of the players brought in ... i just think after initial excitement of first few games, the harsh cold reality of the prem league is giving them all an awakening. Had Paddy hit the ball instead of toe poking it yesterday (for me a sign of a striker still getting match fitness, compared to the guy of 18-24 months ago) and scored when through, we may be having a different debate today.
If's, but's & maybe's.
On the upside, it's only Arsenal next .........
