Normality

So when do we see ourselves getting out of our current rut?

The last time we went through a terrible patch of form, it took Fabinho putting in a great performance in midfield for Klopp to realise that he should play defenders in the backline and midfielders in midfield. The return of Thiago also helped us go on that 10 game winning run which allowed us to get 3rd after a dismal 2 months. Firmino was really underrated during this run as well.

So where do we see that moment coming from this season?

Is it the return of Keita or Ox?
A youngster coming into the team from the academy and reinvigorating us?
A break and time out from the spotlight during the World Cup for our coaching staff and the players

You get the feeling something's gotta give. For all our talk about the midfield being poor and yes they are...our pressing from the front isn't exactly coordinated like we're used too either. No shock though as that frontline has been impacted the most in terms of change of personnel.

Do we ditch the tactical evolution completely and just go back to what we know. Do we persist and drill these players until it becomes second nature again. After 4 years of some of the very best form this league has seen, do these players have it in them to constantly evolve while listening to the same messages from the coaching team or train under the same coaching methods.

A lot of questions to be asked of this season and very few answers being offered up by Klopp and his team. I have no doubt they'll figure it out eventually but Klopp sometimes needs to be forced into these decisions.

We're just having a poor season, it happens.

We've been spoiled these last 6-7 years

City are gonna win the league anyways, everyone else is just fighting for top 4 this season.

City are always going to win the league...it was just nice being the only team making it difficult for them. Pep and his players was literally losing it at certain points

Pressing starts upfront and in midfield. You can have all the best defenders in the world but If the press is beaten you get outnumbered.

Mane, Gini, Firmino, Henderson, Robbo were our core pressing players. They won the ball higher up the pitch which made it easier for our defence.

Losing those players because they have left or became older is the reason for our defensive shambles.

We need two midfielders who can offer us the workrate we have lost with Gini and Hendo.

Congratulations OP on the title of your article.

I absolutely abhor the current trend to use the non-existent word “normalcy” in the media.

Peopel need to just clam down a bit and accept whats reality.

theres a game every 3 or 4 days here. theres also a world blood cup in 6 weeks.

REALITY.

there's a window to work with quite a lot of players who are not getting on a plane to that sports washing travesty coming up be we actually need to get behind our totally underpreforming team and try alieivate a bit of pressure til that world up.

all we can do is get through the CL group any way we can and collect what points we can in the league to have a view towards getting to 70 somehow in the new year.

We can drill players udring the sports washing but the reality is when you see players like thaigo run one way and jog the other and you see a back line thats more like a zig zag of random positions then you know you need work.

theres no point whinging about it. the damage is done now and we have to get on with fixing it.
