These conspiracy theorists seem to think this is a globally coordinated event, though. The belief in something as mental as that hinges on a level of competence that has to run smoothly. So when it doesn’t that in itself is an indication of the conspiracists letting the cat out of the bag. This is genuinely how they think.

What I would like to know is whether the benefits of making up a sensationalist headline/lie in the media, newspaper or such, outweighs the cost of having to later apologise for the inaccuracy?

It would also be good to understand how much the retraction undoes the original lie. Could we move towards a world where sensationalised lies are the norm for shares and clicks as they are the most profitable and there is only a small cost to pay for spreading the lie?

Misinformation is the most profitable way forward.

Society needs a refresh anyway. Could we have a series of tests maybe to get into a new society?

Like walk in a straight line across the world until you either get to the edge of the flat and fall off, or end up back in the same place via going around the world. If you complete it then you are allowed into society and know the world is round. If you refuse because you think you will fall off the edge, then you are not allowed in.

Same with religion. If you are not religious then you are allowed into society. You are allowed in if you are religious though, you just need video confirmation from god of him saying you're allowed in. Afterall you wouldn't want to go against God's wishes would you?

Various other ironic tests would be available but going out to play some golf.
