Back up to 19th then. Three points against the scousers and we can start dreaming of the European Conference League.
Last Game Overview:
Defensively better again. Midfield did ok...up front...Lingard was not the answer. Johnson did better.
The Good: Not conceding.
The Bad: Not creating. Lingard - awful.
The Ugly: Yates reflection post-game after getting battered.
Special Mention: The fans, the players and most importantly Yatesy going to war.
Overall Record:
Currently we stand at W30 D29 L57
Not as bad as I thought it would be. We have beaten Liverpool six times in the last 40 odd years and 40 odd games.
Signings:
Colback, Niakhate, OβBrien, Richards and Toffolo missing. Likely Lodi and Williams all missing out, which could see Biancone make his full debut with Aurier at LB. Who said we signed too many fullbacks?!
Costa Rican league is finished...six games left in the Brazilian top flight. See you soon!
Your Opposition Story:
So many Liverpool stories! Not a single one of them publishable
Form:
Liverpool dented City's aspirations, but did little to reduce the deficit. The EPL surely out of reach, but they will be bouyed by that result.
They have West Ham tonight and Ajax next week, so we have an extra days rest and they may rest a few players...still beat us with their C team.
Team:
Henderson
Aurier Worrall McKenna Williams
Mangala Yates Freuler
Dennis Surridge MGW
God knows...might see a few youth players on the bench depending on injuries.
Prediction:
A 3-0 loss...thanks to some stout defending and a pigeon attacking Salah early in the first half.

So much for those on the Athletic who wanted him dropped!

Henderson has to go to World Cup doesn’t he?
^^^
For me, yes. Massive yes. Him, Ramsdale, and Pope
are my top three. But, Southgate lusts after Pickford.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would be harsh to drop Pickford given he’s played well for England. But think Henderson should go, maybe ahead of Ramsdale

Yates was great today. Have been critical of his quality on the ball (never off it) but he was much better today. All the players had more quality on the ball. Will only improve with more games too. Think we can get more points at home though for sure

Surprised by how well Kouyate played given he played so poorly against Leicester. Keeping Mangala out of the team. Good to see Lingard contributing even though he was a bit wasteful

Massive win today and some big performances in every area of the pitch.
I’m surprised it was only 1-0. Both teams missed good chances.
Agree with Ryan Yates, we have set the bar higher with that performance.
Klopp not too gracious in the interview I heard. Made excuses for his team being tired and players injured. No credit to Forest.

Agree Klopp had nothing nice to say about Forest and came across as very arrogant. He clearly came expecting to just turn up and win so I have no sympathy for him.

Forest were superb, and should have maybe had more, 3-1 would have been about right - Klopp pretty ungracious, basically saying they handed the win to us, but we wanted it more and well deserved the win - although yeah Liverpool were pretty poor by their standards - shame the next game is Arsenal away...

Had $20 on us at 14s ππ»
Whilst Liverpool had some forced and unforced changes, we had 3 LBs, a CB and a midfielder missing. At least 2 of those first choice. I’m pretty sure pre-game they’d have all taken their team over ours.
I think we deserved the win, despite their possession. Better than the win, was the performance.
Awoniyi, Henderson, Kouyate and Yates were outstanding. The rest not far behind. Even Lingard played better!!
Arsenal will be incredibly tough, but Brentford and Palace at home? We should be looking to get at least 4 points before the WC break. That would put us on 13 points, with 23 games to go.
Let’s keep the support up. It’s so great to hear the commentators and pundits raving about our fans.
Anyway, one game at a time ππ»
A few thoughts for our absent friends:
It took Derby until February to get 9 points - the record looks like it’s going to stay intact.
You only have to look at Derby to see how much they love League One. They clearly want to stay there and slug it out with Huddersfield next season.
