Every day that passes without a general election shows how tories put themselves ahead of the country.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

All politicians do. Labour wouldn’t call an election if they facing similar annihilation. The government is a mess, but this is the inevitable result of identity politics - taking the middle-ground is perceived as siding with the enemy. Where’s the collaboration and compromise?

In my lifetime Labour have never been in as much of a mess as the tories are right now. The country is on its knees, mainly due to austerity. That was a Tory policy.

I work in the public sector. I work with police, ambulance and nhs staff. For years we have been saying the tories are destroying us. Now the public is feeling the effects as we can no longer protect them from it

Al austerity. All tory

Do you know when the nhs had its highest ever patient approval rating?

Right before Labour lost power.

After Brexit there’s no compromise. Level headed MPs left Tories party, the party have filled themselves with right wing think tanks like the ERG.

Yep. They have divided and conquered. Anyone that challenged their far right views was labelled ‘woke’ or part of ‘project fear ‘ regardless of their expertise

The country was hoodwinked by a public school billy and a bunch of dweebs who were likely to call you names and then hide behind the big dog.

It’s really really sad.

I have a 6 year old and a 4 year old. Cameron, may, Johnson and this current idiot have seriously put their futures in jeopardy

"I'm afraid there is no money". Don't forget the state the previous Labour government left this country in.

Usually, common sense would dictate that in a time of financial crisis, a Labour government is the last thing you'd want.

Where would the spending come from? Our pay slips. Don't kid yourself into thinking it'll be the super wealthy who will foot the bill, it'll be the middle class (majority of this site).

However, such is the state of this current Tory regime, "things can only get better". I don't tend to get drawn into chosing a party but a policy, and the views are too polarising to choose even if I wanted to. But this cannot go on, question is, how can Labour force a GE....

Starmer laid out a plan in his conference speech. Unfortunately it doesn’t get the Murdock press boost.

The ‘there’s no money left’ is a joke left by every outgoing party, otherwise do you not think Johnson would’ve thrown this at Starmer every week?

It’s time to stop looking to the past. Look at the now. This mess is all down to Tory policy. 12 years of it.

If you do want to look backwards, I seem to recall up to a 3% growth inthe economy almost every quarter under Labour. I would also argue that Gordon browns bank bail out after the financial crash, that had nothing to do with Labour, saved your mortgage.

But if you still think it would be worse under Labour, I can’t help you

I disagree, this mess is mostly down to the passing of overly inflated bills during Covid and a war in Europe which happens to involve a nation that supply 40% of European gas.

We were in for a bad time whatever happened, however, the period has been handled horribly and it is time for the Tories to pass on the baton, find fresh talent and rebuild because the current cabinet is worst I've ever seen.

I must add, I do quite like Starmers approach, something very Tony Blair-like about him. Not true Labour by name, closer to the centre.
