Everyone knows the Premier League has 6 elite teams that are a level above the rest, but what would be the best combined XI you could make from teams not in the Top 6? Mine would be:
Alisson
Cash Zouma Konate Robertson
Rice Neves
Salah Maddison Trossard
Toney
What would your non top 6 XI be?
Best non top 6 XI

if they were a good team I'd have heard of at least one of their playersI know great players from the past.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't need great players. Could just have been a great team.

Yeah OK. How many great teams have no great players

The European Cup / Champions League can be divided into three distinct periods:
The Early Years:
Spanning the period of evolution of open, all-out attacking football using five forwards, through the invention of the original catenaccio, to the total football of the Dutch school. A time of pure football.
The Lost Years:
Inaugurated by Bayern Munich, a time where dire, speculative, time-wasting football takes hold of Europe, and becomes so boring that fans prefer to fight each other rather than watch the game.
The Golden Years:
After some encouraging early signs from Sacchi's Milan, football starts to get entertaining with the Bosman ruling which means English sides are no longer alone in being able to field as many foreigners as they wish, heralding advent of the Champions League.
Interestingly enough, in both of the periods of interest to actual football fans, Real Madrid have held the title of European Champions for longer than all of the football clubs in England combined.

itsbronly, what are the dates of these periods?

Hi Wahldude,
Early: 1956-1973
Lost: 1974-1992
Golden: 1993-2022

So in both golden and early periods Chelsea are equal with massive super club Liverpool.
Interesting.

They knocked out Hamburg who were back to back German champions and the holders.
They were obviously a decent side.

They went unbeaten for 36 games which was the Bundesliga record for 30 years until Bayern Munich broke it in 2013.
Perhaps there's more to football than you not recognising players names.
