An area that’s been completely neglected by the owners and Levy. An area with bang average players that somehow continue to keep their place at this club and there is the problem in a nutshell. We pander and cater for players that continue to let us down, instead of moving them on and buying in quality replacements like a proper top club with ambition requires.
We have never truly replaced Vertonghen or Toby. Romero being the closest sign of potential quality, but what’s he going to do when you have donkeys like Davies, Dier and Sanchez playing amongst him? A trio of absolute clowns.
Royal, Sessgnon, Dier, Doherty, Davies and Sanchez. Lloris, who is finished as a top level keeper and is an absolute liability. None of them are good enough and these players are part of our defence and we wonder why we never achieve anything?
I have said all along that Dier and Sanchez are an absolute liability as a pairing, yet whenever we get an injury to any defender, it’s these 2 that play and stink out the place. Literally fed up with the same s** players letting us down time and time again.
Conte has his faults granted and I’m pi*** he still hasn’t given Spence an opportunity when you have 2 crap RWB’s, but what can he do when he doesn’t have the tools provided? An absolute joke once again spearheaded by the bald one.
Rank average defence

I put thr blame more on Conte than most. He doesn't seem to coach anything into the players. Top coaches make players better. Conte has not made one single player better. With a world class coach you would get more out of players like Sess for example. Instead, we see him sporadically and lacking confidence.
There doesn't seem to be any sort of plan or direction under Conte. It's just the same thing game after game and it's dross each time.
Yea, we could do with some better players. But improving 3 or 4 of the ones we have now would show he is elite. He isn't.
I'd even go as far as to say that I wouldn't want Levy chucking loads of money on players with Conte in charge.

Four different managers have tried to make Sessignon better. It just ain't going to happen. Same with about a dozen of our players. Lots should have been outed two or three seasons ago.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This. He has his faults Conte, but how can 4 managers not get a tune out of these players? It’s the current bunch of losers that are still here. It’s the pi** poor recruiting by Levy and Co

Don, I am astonished how players like Dier and Davies have become like first picks, when they were next to useless under even Poch. They both should have been moved on. Both plodders, and certainly not good enough for a CL team. Most of the other defenders also have their faults, but have not been at the club as long as those two I mentioned. I just cannot see how they keep getting picked.

Sandy, there are other ways of getting tickets mate. I got a ticket for the Fulham game through a friend on Twitter. You need to get the connections. My brother is a season ticket holder, so i can always get games from people he knows when they can’t make it

Despite Spurs form, I have been trying to get tickets for Arsenal and City this morning, and all tickets were sold out in 20 minutes.
The fecking ground aint big enough anymore. Everyone game is selling out this season in double quick time for some reason.
Highly frustrating, that for some reason everyone seems to want to go to watch Spurs this season.

The size of our support despite the lack of recent trophies and us being a hard watch is incredible. Those who pay a fortune to watch the dross we generally serve up (during a cost of living crisis) deserve great respect and have every right to boo the team off.
It seems the more unsuccessful we are the more we gain support, it must be gallows humour!

Yep. We win nothing, yet are so well supported.

The majority of our CBs and WBs are so bad on the ball. Their touches and passing and general technique is painful to watch
No manager could make the likes of Emerson and Sanchez good with a football. Then again Conte is the one picking these players
I'm not sure what the solution is. Rationally I think Conte is doing a good job with the players at his disposal. But I don't feel that excitement when we win. As a fan I should feel that
Levy needs to take a leaf out of Arsenal's book and accept taking hits on a lot of the duds we have. We can't rebuild properly while certain players take up spots and wages

None of them can play out the back apart from Romero and I suppose Lenglet. All of them are f** useless.

The defence is bad…
Lloris cannot kick a ball, takes far too long to either throw or kick the ball out.
This puts pressure on the defenders when they receive the ball from him.
The defence themselves panic when they receive the ball… with the exception of Romero. Sanchez actually looks petrified of the ball.
The wingbacks aren’t doing their job, they’re supposed to do..
Doherty, Royal, Davies,Sanchez are nowhere near good enough for a team playing champions League…
Dier is just average, but organises the defence… Romero is decent. Don’t know what to make of Lenglet.
The team still needs major investment. Conte is right about this, for sure!

I cringe whenever Lloris gets the ball to his feet and so do the defenders. Even the crowd feels it. I have never known a keeper to be so poor with his feet.

We tried to sign better centre backs but no one wanted to sell the players we wanted, the club tried, can’t force someone to sell.

It is funny how other top 6 clubs rarely have any problem acquiring the players they want, they go out and pay what is required, even if it means paying slightly over the odds. If you want top quality you have to pay for it, this is where Levy fails every time, he is too tight to go the extra mile for top players.
Every player has a price but Levy rarely meets it. It is also a vicious circle, we won`t pay for top quality and then get cheaper alternatives who turn out to be rubbish and we end up stuck with them.
Even Woolwich have had a better transfer window than us and they had no CL to offer players, vintage Levy.
