Disgraceful

Not posted in a while but want to say what a disgrace AVFC are, not just on the performance yesterday which was a shambles but on everything going on at the club over the last two years.

First, start on a positive note. I think Emery is probably the best appointment we could make. Yes, Poch was probably everyone's favourite but it was always unlikely he would want to take on the mess that is AVFC. Emery is proven at the very highest level, is an expert at winning cups, and is good with younger players. His football is known to be a bit defensive and his record at Arsenal is a small blip on his CV, but it was always going to be hard going in there after Wenger. If anyone can sort out this chaos of a football club, it's him.

Now, turn to the negatives, of which there are many. How is it that we can sign so many duds? That so many players who were once good can turn to muck once they pull on the Villa shirt. Ings, Coutinho, Buendia, Bailey, Digne have all been flops for the money and wages spend on them yet were all considered marquee signings when we got them. How can McGinn be a standout player for Scotland and absolute dog sh** playing for Villa? Then spending a fortune on duff strikers like Wesley and Watkins. Mings and Konsa should have been replaced in the team by now and are still our starting CBs. A 37-year-old Young playing at LB. Probably the only signing we seem to have got right is Emi Martinez (who has still gone backwards since his first season at the club), and maybe Luiz but even he is still woefully inconsistent and played out of position. Then in typical Villa fashion our two big signings in the summer, Kamara and Carlos, get injured only a few games into their Villa careers. So many of these players should be playing for a World Cup place but their form is that bad you wonder whether they don't give a toss if they're selected.

How are significantly smaller clubs, who play in tiny stadiums and have a much smaller fanbase, like Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth and Fulham, so much better than us when on paper they have mainly Championship players and have spent a fraction of what we have spent? How are sides like Everton and Leeds who have had to sell their best players in the summer ahead of us in the table? Even Newcastle (who to be fair have recruited very well since their takeover and signed some great players) had players like Burn, Almiron, Joelinton, Willock and Longstaff in their team yesterday, players that before the takeover were stinking that side out. Is it really a case of coaching? Was Gerrard so bad that he turned all our players to absolute dirt? We have been sh*te for ages, probably the last decent season I remember was 2010, but it was expected when we weren't spending any money. Now we are spending money and no better, maybe even worse, than when we were operating on a tight budget under Lerner for all those years. How is that even remotely possible? Fewer points this season than at the same stage in the 19/20 season when we stayed up by one point despite an easier start this season. It's an absolute disgrace, there's no two ways about it.

On paper and with the size of the club this team should be top 8/9 in this league, no question about that whatsoever. The amount of money the club has spent, and the quality on paper of this team, it should be nowhere near a relegation battle and not losing 4-0 to anyone. The club has become so poisonous and rotten stacked with a bunch of losers that once things go against them they give up. I think it's now 62 defeats since promotion in 127 games, pretty much a 50% loss rate, it's embarrassing. If that doesn't change with a proven manager now in charge then quite frankly I don't care if most of these players are sold and replaced with players that have a stronger mentality and will fight for points. The game yesterday should have been an opportunity for them to impress the new manager, instead they just played like losers once again.

For what it’s worth, I think Emery will do good for you guys.

Dream on! You are talking about Aston Villa so at the start of any season you can only be mildly optimistic and hope to avoid relegation. Doesn't matter who the manager is. Silk purse / sow's ear.

The squad is full of weak mentality flake boys that crumble as soon as they go a goal behind. They give up and just want cuddles and pandering from people that should know better. Half of them need binning off. Total Championship at best like Mings, McGinn and Watkins.

Look how much those Newcastle players worked yesterday especially tracking back, fighting for everything, even after going ahead. Doesn't matter if they we're in a relegation spot 12 months ago. They've got there acts together across the board and spent well. Who knows if losing Kamara and Carlos would've changed the mentality on the pitch.

We're still toxic. Spending money on g@5h.

Emery has an almighty job on his hands and I'll be happy to see the back of most of these cherry boy losers asap for real men that act like real men.

Useless p u 551 e5.

Emery was unlucky at Arsenal, tbf. Not only was he taking over a legendary manager and a squad in need of much change in personnel, personality and ability, but we also tried to change how things were run. Raul Sanllehi was the real flop, Emery just got the brunt of it.

Think if we had avoided Chelsea we would have won the Europa in his only season.
