Energy Saving Strategy.

So it’s official, we’re playing like we do in the first half of games ON PURPOSE.

“Conte has insisted it is impossible for his players to maintain their intensity for a full 90 minutes, given the relentlessness of the schedule and one possibility- hinted at by assistant Stellini- is that the slow starts are part of a strategy to conserve energy and beat the opponent in a 45 minute match"

Well at least now we know! , but they need to make this clearer to the players as Lenglet said they didn’t know if they were supposed to be attacking or defending in the first half!

Thoughts?

Spurs aren’t covering a lot of ground when they are defending, though. I’m not sure what the statistics are, but I’d imagine you are covering fewer miles than most teams in the league this season. That wasn’t the case last season under Conte, I think you were top over the season once he joined.

We’ve covered the most ground in the league by quite a distance

I find that hard to believe. Have you got the stats for this?

It popped up on TV on one of our games recently, I'll try to find it.

It’s difficult to find these stats. I vaguely remember Sky showing some stats that Spurs’ distance covered was way down compared to last season.
