If Salah had made a dive similar to that one today, we wouldn’t hear the last of it

Hands up United fans who’d love a soft pen or two right now 😂

A couple more deflections/own goals will suffice.

It's extremely tedious when these discussions veer towards the old tribal battle-lines between clubs.
The mere fact there's so much discussion going on about this is enough to suggest it isn't 100% clear cut, as much as we might each dig our trenches.
Conversely, just because someone supports one club or other doesn't mean that they're judging the incident on that basis. If people are consistent with their views across incidents, then why should their colours be brought into it?
On a separate note: Mamba, you're wrong when you say VAR didn't check it. Maybe it was just how you chose to word it, because I'd be very surprised if you didn't already know that the VAR officials check every potentially contentious issue. In the case of penalties, for example, I think it's practically mandatory.
A different issue is when they ask the ref to review the action. Generally speaking, when it's for fouls where there has actually been contact, they are quite loathe to ask the ref to review his decision, the assumption being that if there's been contact and the ref has spotted it, then he will have been in a position to judge just how bad the contact was. It's a different situation where a defender hasn't actually touched the player or might have played the ball legally first. I doubt, however, that you'll see many decisions getting overturned for a case like yesterday's.

I was replying to a comment that stated VAR didn't check it. I assumed it was checked and was surprised to hear that it was not. But thanks for clarifying that it was indeed checked.

Well there were three clear reasons why the Foden goal should not have been a goal. One of the easier decisions to make.

Hardly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, there were.

There wasn't, the 'foul' by Haaland was softer than the one on KdB yesterday.

VAR check everything, the game's only stopped if there's any doubt.

Fack off. He was dragged down by his shirt, following a goal kick that wasn't a goal kick and before Haaland kicked the ball out of Alisson's hands.
Christ.

VAR bails you out against City every time.

Nope.
Can hardly call that "bailing out" either.
