How crucial will next transfer window be ?

So, after yet another pitiful performance, it is clear to everyone that this team has 100% lost it's way.

Forget where we are in the PL. That is clearly a false position.

Forget any ambitions in the CL. Yeah, we got to the knockout, mainly due to an easy group. We really aren't at that level presently.

Player assessment / future with the club:

Sanchez - no future. Amazing he is still there.

Dier - squad player at the very best, and that is questionable. Again, amazing he is still playing for us. I mean, how many chances do we get to fack up our jobs and remain employed ?

Royal. Do I really need to say anything ??

Sess. Got to loan out now. Way too weak. Needs to grow some. Is literally like a 13 year old playing against adults.

Hugo. Time has been up for a while now. Yeah a good shot stopper, but has a big mistake in him EVERY game. Liverpool showed us all what a quality keeper brings to a team. Over to you Levy.

Doherty. Not good enough. Nothing else to say.

Davies. Yeah, gives 100% and does have the odd good performance. But again, ask yourself, are we winning anything or going to the next level with him as a regular CB ? Squad player at best.

Moura. Squad player. Nothing else to say.

Spence. Could be a good player. Who knows ??

Perisic. Look, not for me to call out his achievements / experience. But, we did get him at the wrong end of his career, and therefore is not one to build future success around.

And lastly....Conte. I am very reluctant to be critical, but at what point do we call him out on tactics, formations, lack of flexibility in formations and general stubbornness when refusing to pick players whilst sticking with players we all know are cack ? it is a results business after all, and we ain't getting results.

For me, whilst I have no interest in the up coming world cup, this break, frankly could not come at a better time for Spurs. Gives injured players time to recover, and out of form players time to reflect and come back hopefully stronger.

Lastly, as the title suggests, surely this up coming window is crucial, and Levy MUST know this. There are so many positions of weakness in this team, that cannot all be solved in January, but the club must be looking at the CB, RWB and CF positions, that are currently so lacking in quality, and finally DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. We just cannot keep going with the likes of Sanchez, Dier, Hugo, Davies year after year.

I read we have made nearly £70m so far from the CL, not to mention £1m+ from every home game. Ffs Levy, you need to spend some of it, and on quality, not the usual basement bargain dross or "one for the future" we always get.

From an extremely frustrated Spurs fan who has seen this "rinse and repeat" rubbish for most of the last 45 years.

Why is 4th a false position in the league. No such thing exists unless you are making the case we've had a lot of easy home games, when actually the opposite is true!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think it’s that fact that recently we’ve lost to any half-decent team and if that continues, we’ll drop down to 6th pretty quickly.

Unless we start playing a lot better. We cannot maintain 4th by shipping goals and only playing for 45minutes a match
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That shows the difference between some on here.

I do not expect us to keep playing poorly, particularly as we have players returning.

Some do not think we are capable of playing any better/differently.

The season will ebb and flow. Certainly the likes of NUFC have been able to gain momentum with their 1 game a week, meanwhile we have had 2 games a week since 28 August, bar one postponement.

Conte is in part to blame but our players are knackered and the timing of injuries to Son Deki and Richy have not helped that. We were pretty mmuch bare bones vs Liverpool and still should have drawn at least.

People talk about a false position but why....because if LFC or CFC had any form theyd be above us. Thats just a contradiction and a negative angle that assume the worst for us and better for others.

We will not improve enough until we at least have decent wing backs. They are fundamental to contes system. Ours are absolute pony.

Too many of our players are off form, it happens, I bet that in the new year they will find that form, we will soar up the table and win a cup or two.

Steve, unless the club are going to spend £200 million in January, I expect nothing much to change.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately mate, I make you right. I guess some of the problem here is players Conte want are not/ will not be available at least unti the summer, but we simply cannot carry on with this back line. For me the most frustrating thing is I could easily have said exactly the same thing 4 years ago, when our back line included...yeah, Sanchez, Dier, Davies and Hugo !!!

I said false position, mainly because we are only 14 games in and clearly clubs who started slowly for what ever reason, have better first 11's, better squad depth, and are just better than us. Simple as.
Truth is the three above us are better, Utd are better, Liverpool are better. That puts us 7th at best.
Anyone who thinks our team is better than that, either hasn't watched us this season, or are just being blind with their bias. Personally, I am a realist, and leave all that blustering to Sky pundits.

There seems to be an ongoing negative movement being carried out by Spurs fans, centered around "oh how boring it all is" narrative.

At the same time I keep seeing similar noises in nearly every media outlet.

It is a topic I just don't get.

I have, just today, seen video clips from both Jamie O'Hara and someone on the Boot Room, saying exactly the same. Both voicing their total puzzlement as to what is being said. Jamie ( bless him ) even said "just don't watch us then"

Come on, what is there not to like.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, was more than happy when Levy put his money where his mouth is and hired Conte. At the same time everyone ( who actually knows anything about football management ) knew exactly what Conte's style of play was.

So why do these fans keep finding fault in everything. Do you want us to go back to Nuno ? or maybe go back to, say, when Ardiles was our manager and played 5 in attack, and basically relied on scoring more goals than we conceded ?

I know Sandy has followed Spurs since the 1950's. Perhaps ask him if, when we WERE the best around, did he want rid of, say Dave Mackay, because he was a no nonsense player who made sure we never lost the midfield, but didn't play nice on the eye football ?

We are currently fourth in the PL,

I fully respect everyone's opinion on this forum, but can one of these negative fans please come on here and explain to me, Sandy and every other Spurs fan who is happy with how Conte has, in less than a year, transformed us into a top 3 side and got some of our supposedly dross playing some of their best football, what they don't like.

Please let us know why you think playing "nice on the eye" footie, but winning bug*er all, is your preferred option.

We all have a go at the Scousers but, to be fair, no matter how bad their team is playing, and this season so far is one of those times, always, always get 100% being their team.

Sadly, we don't do the same

Good post Simon. I am pretty happy with Conte and he has made some very decent signings. He now needs to be given more money to sort out the defence, then I think Spurs will be back in business. Rome was not built in a day.

Dave Mackay was one of our greatest ever players, and he was absolutely no nonsense, and not in a million years did I ever hear any supporter at WHL say they wanted him out. He was absolutely worshipped at WHL as was Greavsie, John White, Danny, Cliff Jones, Bobby Smith etc.
