VAR and excuses

Saw the article below yesterday and thought it was relatively fair. Also gave a bit more depth to how VAR works.

They’ve picked out the comment from the SFA that a few of us on here noticed about offside, which is mental for an official statement from the governing body.

Standard of refereeing just now seems to be getting worse. The Celtic game last weekend-the decision by the ref to award the penalty was crazy, just as bad was the goalie being awarded a foul for catching the ball, putting it down and then picking it back up again.

Celtic players also seem to be unfairly penalised anytime we go near an opposition player. They drop to the deck the second we go near them and get a foul-different story in reverse. The goal that we conceded at Motherwell came from a free kick that should never have been given, especially as there was a foul on a Celtic player right before it.

Can only hope they’re working on the ‘issues’ during the WC break.

It is true that the other teams get away with kicking lumps out of both old firm teams, while getting all sorts of soft fouls from us. Honestly think it's something referees do subconsciously to even things out a bit. Apart from Collum, his only motivation is whatever makes him centre of attention.

Think every team has players like that-I’m talking about how it’s irrelevant which Celtic player goes near an opposing player, it’s immediately a foul. Think that might help some understand why we don’t seem to get a lot of bookings compared to fouls committed. It’s because they’re not really fouls.

I really enjoy the idea that Celtic are hard done by. It entertains me massively.

With such a long mid season break it has the feeling for me of two separate seasons with everything up to now gone and almost forgotten.

Fortunately the records say a healthy 9 point lead in the league

The WC is upon us with the first game the thrilling prospect of Quatar v Ecuador today.......
