Maddison

All of the signs appear to be pointing towards a move to Newcastle in January. Maddison reportedly wants to leave and his contract offer, like Tielemans, remains on the table. Financially, Leicester are in no position to refuse offers of around the £60m mark (which they didn’t get in the summer) and will probably need to accept the money rather than hold onto the player

The loss of both Maddison and quite possibly Tielemans will be I think too much for any manager to deal with, let alone this one. Replacing Maddison in particular will be incredibly tough and so many goals come through him that I think this could be a defining moment in our season

I think the club have to protect our premier league status and hold on until the summer. Losing him, with Rodgers at the helm, means potentially losing our top flight status - can you even imagine how many points we’d be on without him?

I still don't understand why Leicester are so skint. I know the owners business lost money but I don't understand how this has so massively affected Leicester City FC (unless they need to take money out of it) as a seperate entity.

You need to better understand Thai business practices to grasp the problems here.

That's what I just said.

People just making too much out of these. From what i understand anyone leaving will be replaced by incoming player, and i still believe non of Tielemans and Madders will leave in January. The club have enough time to scout their replacements

We just had Wout Faes a better replacement than Fofana, same applies to all those leaving

We aren't letting Maddison go in January, unless it's a fee you cannot refuse.

I think he will leave in the Summer though.

I remember Leicester fans kidding themselves that Soyuncu was better than Maguire too

He (Soyuncu) actually was at first. Faes does look a more complete player than Fofana.

He will most likely get his head turned a few ways while with England, can't imagine he will be turning to many our way..
O well, c'est la vie

It simply isn't realistic to think that we can hold on to Madders when he has been performing at the level he has over the last year or so. He's 26 and needs to cash in on his current position.

What does the future hold if he stays at Leicester - realistically no European football, no trophies, a club that's struggling financially with a manager who has been blaming everybody but himself for the team's travails - significantly, including the players.

He's seen how weak the management is in regard to player negotiations, letting numerous contracts run down such that there is a reasonable opportunity of leaving for a free so why not hold out on signing a new deal?

Newcastle is particularly attractive at the moment given their outstanding start to the season with a reasonable chance of getting European football next year, Europa League at least, possibly even nicking one of the Champions League spots.

It's almost a perfect storm for us. It would be insane of the club to sell him in January however, with there still being a very real prospect of playing in the Championship next season - despite our recent upturn in form. They would inevitably have to leave him go in the summer though.

Hopefully our recruitment team will unearth another gem to replace him.

Good points Nuneaton. I think if I’m honest I’m still in complete shock at how Top and the board have allowed the club to unravel to this extent so quickly. Fa cup winners and European football in 2021/22 - absolutely skint and playing to stay in the PL in 2022/23

It is depressing for sure but we are where we are.

First thing is we must stay in the Premier League; however bad the finances look at the moment, they would look far worse following relegation, with administration looming and a possible return to the third tier.

The team have shown that they are, given the right support and direction, still perfectly capable of garnering sufficient points to keep us out of the mire. Whether Brendan is the right person to lead the team will become clearer as the season unfolds, we can but hope that he does prove up to the task as what is evident from the season so far is that it would take a truly terrible, and, critically, lengthy set of adverse results for him to get the boot. By which time it might well be too late for any incoming manager to turn it round.
