Banning headers. Thoughts?

very rare player would be doing much heading the day before and after games anyway, so not much of a difference

Maybe set pieces set up's? only what I read in the article but they said it is usually done the day before a game but I've never been involved with football coaching at any level so it could be wrong?

It absolutely is though the focus is very much on the setup and movements rather than the finish so hopefully isn't a big deal. Day after focussed on recovery so again should be no big deal.

na not really, mainly just rub downs some maintence of any worries, light runs, maybe some shape work and video analysis stuff prior to a game. and recovery work and a video debrief the day after the game is the norm.

Granted there may be the odd team that does thi differently but this will typically be the process before and after a game.

maybe the do some shadow set piece shape work but that would be it. or at least should be it.

‘Hibs women's team defender Joelle Murray told BBC Scotland she supported the move but said it was a tough balance as the day before match day was when teams worked on set pieces.’

Just on the chat above.

If it helps at all, then it’s a good thing.

thats genuinely not the norm .... cant speak for womens game , but i didnt think it would be much different.

day before the game should be roughly

food

quick warm up
Physio time
stretching time

light cardio
shooting drills
passing drills
shadow shape work

food

video anyalsis of opponents

further physio work if to those who need it
and that would be about it.

they try to limit the contact and anything intense.

its all about body prep pretty much, right food, right recovery and some opponent breakdown.

Perhaps its different if the schedule is packed.

but typically thats what they should be kinda looking to do.

I can only talk for Celtic but the focus was on shaping for the match, opponent analysis and set pieces then diet. Everything else is pretty light exercise and stretch.

yup I assumed it was fairly universal.

Guess more interesting than the impact is the why around it. I think we’ll all have seen the payouts in the NFL around CTE, rugby is teetering and could implode in a few years if similar claims from the likes of Steve Thomson progress. Football, given it’s size and how many people play it, I really don’t know where it could end up.
