“It doesn't matter who scores, if it's me or Dybala or anyone else scores, it matters that we win and reach our objective". Cristiano Ronaldo, November 2019.
Fine sentiments from a man who understands that football is a team game, and to reach the apex of the sport, the individual ego must be sublimated into the interests of the collective.
In other news, it's widely reported that the Portuguese Football Association will be *presenting evidence* to Fifa in support of the claim that the first goal in their win over Uruguay should be awarded to Ronaldo, contrary to the conclusions drawn from both camera footage and the smart chip in the ball itself. More conclusively, last night Ronaldo texted Piers Morgan to inform him that he definitely felt the ball on its way to the net.
Anyway, a random set of facts which I present without comment.

Ronaldo feels betrayed by FIFA.

Just be happy that he was subbed only a few minutes before they got a penalty. I hope it kept him awake all night.

He's actually always been this way but everyone has looked the other way because he was an utter genius.
Now he's not very good and it gets a lot more irritating.
Always prefered Rooney myself. Always felt like one of our own (even though he wasn't) whilst Ronnie had eyes on Madrid from the very start with us.

I loved Rooney, at least for the first few years. But he isn't one of us, he's a blue. And good for him.

Nonsense. Was Cantona not one of us? Robson? Law?

Yes all three of those were, and are one of us. They still visit, talk about us.
Wayne was great for us, but his hearts with Everton.

I've talked about players being one of us before RR. Players who would be happy to stand on the Stretty End except for the attention they'd get.
Wayne would rather be on Gladys, and why not.

Interestingly Rooney turned down the manager’s job at Everton. His biggest ambition is to manage United. He knows he’s facked if he takes the Everton job because the club is a mess.

Sounds like it would be good practice for the United job…

Portugal are claiming they never asked FIFA to look into the goal and that the Spanish press made it up, who knows?
I see Ronaldo is likely off to Saudi Arabia on €200m per year!
