Wolves v Gillingham Match Preview

Date: Tuesday 20th December
Kickoff: 19.45
Venue: Molineux

On Tuesday next Wolves will welcome Gillingham to Molineux for their Carabao Cup 4th round tie.

League 2 Gillinham currently sit bottom of the table, 71 places below Wolves.
They have played 20 league games this season winning just 2. With non league football looming on the horizon there is nothing that they would like more than to take another Premier League scalp.
To reach the 4th round of this competition Gillingham overcame their previous Premier league opposition with a win on penalties at Brentford.

Despite this, new manager Julen Lopetegui will be approaching this game as he approaches all games, looking for a win.

The last time the two sides met in a cup game was in January 2002, an FA cup game which Gillingham won 1-0.

All 5 of Wolves players that have been on World Cup duties have returned without injury so Julen Lopetgui has a full squad to draw from with the exception of a couple of long term absentees.

Gem’s prediction: 4-0

RAN will be a far better player than Bueno in the long term. Would be another top young player that we let go.

Agreed. We let Vitunha slip through the net as well.

Our recent transfer business has been shambolic in truth,

said this before but feels like we have a real issue it seems keeping young players interested. A few have actually wanted out and if the Ait-Nouri rumours are true that would be yet another one.

As I have said I would be sad if Ait Nouri left us, but can’t go along with the view that he will be a far better player than Bueno. Bueno is younger, less experienced but already looks more disciplined than Ait Nouri, a better defender, and when he gets forward has a better final delivery in him. I’d keep Bueno if we could only keep one, but ideally I’d like us to keep both.

If he could play on the right that would be awesome but looks unlikely

he and bueno on the left would be pretty exciting as well

Bueno has been really good, but he has also got away with a couple of mistakes that RAN and Semedo would have been hammered for.

Same as Kilman has made quite a few mistakes this season, but Collins and the other defenders tend to get more of the blame. Our fans are far more forgiving of academy youngsters than they are of youngsters who go directly into the first team.

Kilman has been disappointing overall this season. Not entirely sure why, or if he and Collins just haven't gelled yet.

Kilman and Collins were excellent and gave us one of the best defensive records In the division until the defence became disorganised when managed by the former Crewe manager.

As for bueno he has made far fewer mistakes than either RAN or Semedo.

Semedo started the season poorly and has got gradually worse. On Tuesday he was incredibly poor. Don’t know what’s wrong with him cause he clearly has ability
