Derby County 4 - 0 Forest Green Rovers

DERBY COUNTY v FOREST GREEN ROVERS League 1 #21

Pride Park Saturday 17th December 1500

Just wondering how many meat pies and Bovril drinks will be consumed in the away end on Saturday?

Derby come in to this match on the back of a disappointing result v Burton. Disappointing because we need to start putting these games to bed if we are serious about progress. Burton are at the bottom for a reason and yet we still lack the nous to unlock teams such as this.

Derby go into the match unbeaten in 11 but need to start getting consistent 3 points instead of one. This is the first time we have met FGR in a league match but remember there was a time when we met Burton for the first time in a league competition and we still have not beaten them.

Saturday could see a start for Curtis Davies, our talismanic captain but he needs to watch out for Fozzie who is excelling at centre half.

I am also waiting for the stars to align for Didzy. Just feel he is very close to one of those performances where some team will be ripped to shreds.....or maybe not....

Its still going to cold on Saturday, so wrap up warm but the forecast for next week will be warmer which will be nicer for picket lines for those with principles - albeit in desperation

Team news:- Wildsmith (GK), Forsyth, Hourihane, Cashin, Barkhuizen, Bird (C), Collins, McGoldrick, Mendez-Laing, Smith, Sibley

Subs:-Loach (GK), Davies, Roberts, Thompson, Knight, Osula, Dobbin

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JORVIK πŸΎπŸΎπŸŽ‚

Quite enjoyable that final. Rosenior ball just edging out Warne ball.

Hope it's not an omen.

Don't worry Spart, the pie will keep for a few more weeks or months until I let you have it. It's not as if you are going to be eating it after all.

I will also hopefully be in better weather in Malaga. You keep the pie in your fridge for a few months for me though.

The French play Steptoe ball. Have to say he made the right call over subs in the first half. They were far better once Albert replaced Giroud and Dembele.

Thanks Terry. It's a bit slow getting rid of it but it's not been too bad.

Well the right team won in the end. It could/should have been England in the final but I doubt we would have beaten Argentina.

They didn’t come to life till the last ten minutes.

Dembele yes, Giroud was a head scratcher.

Best team won though.

Sibley playing at LB seems to be dividing opinion of late. Personally I don't think he put much of a foot wrong on Saturday-other than when the FGR RB skinned him and crossed for their only chance of the game. Granted he picked up a booking ... but it was more of a "taking one for the team" rather than his usual petulant booking. For me he seems to be growing into the role, which I would never have expected from him tbh.... and of course going forward he can usually create something...What do you guys think ??? Cheers. Terry. Even Messi got skinned for one of France’s goals yesterday Tel, so we can’t be too harsh on Sibley for his one obvious slip-up.

Anyone notice how Fozzie kept advancing and taking a defender out of the game when he started a move which led to a goal?

After the takeover it was ages before Fozzy finally signed his contract. I don't know what the hold-up was but I reckon there were plenty of us who would not have been all that fussed if he had moved on. I thought he was worth keeping but I didn't see him as being much more than a squad player really. He has been a complete revelation. You have to wonder where we would have been without him, given the injuries to Davies and Chester. He has been unbelievably consistent and some of his performances, like MK Dons away, absolutely outstanding.

I see we've been linked with Sam Cosgrove. He's a Brum CF currently on loan at Plymouth. He scored against us. 6'2" and aged 26. Apparently scored 6 goals this season. Brum want to use him as a down payment for Bielik it's alleged. Cheers Terry. UTR
