On Boxing day Wolves will travel to Liverpool to take on fellow strugglers Everton.
Before the international break Everton were beaten twice in a week by Bournemouth conceding 7 goals in the process whilst scoring just one.
After the league defeat on the Saturday the travelling Toffees fans made it quite clear what they thought of their players and manager. One canβt help thinking that if Wolves can bag an early goal in this game, the atmosphere inside Goodison could go very quickly toxic.
Despite being bottom of the table, the majority of Wolves fans still believe that new manager Julen Lopetegui will turn things round and the team will survive the drop.
Everton are just 3 places above Wolves and a win here for the visitors would see them just one place and one point behind the toffees going into the last game of the year.
Having served his 3 game suspension after a red card at Brentford, Diego Costa will be available to play as will long term absentee Raul Jimenez
Wolves go into the game on the back of a 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Gillingham on Tuesday but will be without long term absentee forwards Pedro Neto, Chiquinho and Sasa Kalajdzic.
Depending on the terms of his loan deal, Conor Coady may be available to play for Everton however knowing how intimidated he can be by powerful opposition strikers, that could be an advantage for Diego Costa.
The game will be broadcast live on Amazon Prime.

Everton v Wolves Match Day Thread

I have a life other than this forum Gem and didn't have time to respond to your question. A back 3 of Kilman, Collins and Bueno could work for now. Plus Kilman played his best football on the right side of a back 3 when Coady was here (despite DJ's suggestion that Kilman's natural position is on the left) and since he's gone into a back 4, his performances have dropped, quite a bit.
To get the best out of both Semedo and Air-Nouri, they have to be playing as wing backs. The current system doesn't suit either of them and that's one of the reasons the rumors of them leaving have appeared.
Our performances overall since we switched to a back four have deteriorated, hence our position we're now in. The 3 points at Everton were a relief, but does anyone on here actually believe we deserved it. It's early days I know and I didn't see the Gillingham game, but if the Everton game is what we are to expect, then this season will be a struggle. Early days I know, but I'm not overly convinced our style of play will improve, until we sort out our goal scoring problem and that may mean a few of our 'forwards' leaving. The new guy doesn't exactly come with a flow of goals under his belt.
Having posted all that, maybe those who have critiqued my remarks can put forward their views on the 3 main players I've referred to, instead of the usual risible remarks.

Bueno at Centre Back ππ

Bueno has looked decent on the flank so let's move him into the middle sounds a genius idea.
Max is definitely more comfortable on the left side even Stevie wonder can see that.
I genuinely don't have an issue with three at the back my issue was always the way we implemented it with two holding midfielders giving us a back seven and isolated the top three
The 433 now is the system were better suited to

yeah Bueno in a back three is comical and won't ever happen. Toti hasn't shown he is good enough to be trusted week in week out. If we bring a defender in during January a back three becomes possible and we may well see it and i don't have any problem with that personally though that will then leave us likely only picking two midfielders, Neves +1 other.
As for this season, I don't think going to a back four has been the issue at all as defensively we have not really been any worse for the most part.

In what position was Kilman playing when he was at his best and was on the fringes of an International call up?
Answer:- On the right side of a back 3.
Kilman's form has deteriorated and if some can't see that, then they are watching different games than me. I suggest you read the comments made by the E&S reporter at the game. "...Some poor decisions that could have cost Wolves the game"
So, you two don't really have an issue with a back three, so why all the risible remarks?

Because we are not suggesting Bueno or Toti in a back three. If Coady were here, or Saiss or Boly then fair enough but you were happy for all those to leave.
And Kilmans form has dipped. Did we rate him too highly? Is he just a confidence player? Is Collins the weak link? Is Kilman only good in a back three?

I didn't say I wanted any of them to leave. Coady left because of the managers decision to go with a back 4. Boly was well out of touch and Saiss wanted to move on.
Collins has yet to impress me and you don't know if Bueno would fit into that system until you've tried it.
How many on here thought Coady would be good in the centre of a back 3 and he's much better suited in that position. That's why he rarely plays for England and is down the pecking order. Stones, Maguire a get and even Dier gets picked before him.

Only Wolfie would watch Bueno get destroyed by Mina when marking him for a corner and think 'he could do a job at centre back'.

Middle of a relegation fight, obvious to everyone we need some experienced leaders in the side so you pop a left back in at CB

Enough of the risible remarks Bombolino.
Left Half Back in what wolfie stated. ππ
