in this day and age!
The composure in defending. The line-breaking passes through the lines and over the top. The proactiveness. The serene confidence & nonchalance in his actions translated from academy to senior football. Glorious!
Almost like captain of junior England side...Colwill didn't need the second loan spell in the first place, ready to jump straight into senior set-up making statements (akin to Reece) and Cucurella signing unnecessary.
Who could have seen that coming. I certainly would have never seen that coming!
Nothing worse than short-sighted managers (and so-called supporters alike), who have no clue about these young players upside developing but see fit to pass baseless judgements / gaumless decisions', which set the club back. Perplexing.
The positive detail to note is Potter had huge plans for Colwill, to be totally convinced Brighton was the right move...
Shunned Palace, Everton, Leicester, Southampton and Arsenal (last didn't have a ' in hell chance) in the process.
Leicester & Southampton notably presented strongly...
Leicester twice made the most concerted effort to sign Colwill initially during Championship loan spell mid-season & then end of the season (replacing a certain injured Wesley Fofana).
Speaking of Fofana, despite their difference in experience...is there even a huge chasm in quality between him & Colwill? No. Not at all.
I'd actually argue (and have made the case previously) that the latter fares better playing and adapting to Chelsea (all things considered).
Southampton - The appeal of returning to his birth city wasn't sufficient to persuade him, which is huge...considering Southampton are the most prominent for being one of the best providing youth with platform to develop, perform and succeed.
Looks like 80million+ Centre Half...

Therefore, what can be deduced from that is...Potter fully capable of attracting elite players.
Damn shame Potter wasn't at Chelsea before the loan move materialised.
Convincing the best young players to stay or join Chelsea is significantly boosted with GP in charge ( liberates them for one, see the state he left his former club in & Kai as recent striking references - https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/havertz-lets-build-on-this )
Which player looking at the way GP develops individuals, vision and operates wouldn't want to play under him, It's a no-brainer and players nowadays are no fools. They have eyes and a fair (informed) understanding of managers way of thinking & methods.
