Team vs Brentford

Happy New Year Redmen!

Some positive results in our favour since the PL return. We have also had some reasonably positive performances. The Leicester game was not one tho. Too many poor individual performances, added to our regular defensive frailties of this season and we were fortunate to get the result.

People talk of Nunez poor finishing. he will find his scoring boots. our obvious bigger concern is at the other end. We will come unstuck against teams with better fwd lines.
I feel a system change is needed to tighten things up.
Id like to see a tweak to the 4231 as the gaps between our fullbacks and the closer cb are being exploited regularly. add to that the poor form of fabinho before the WC and teams were walking through us(just as Leicester did)
id like to see Konate return vs brentford (pace and strength vs toney)
double pivot of fab and thiago to provide more protection.
dropping hendo for firmino

so id like to see

Allison
trent Kon VVD Robbo
Fab Thiago
Mo Firmino Gakpo(can he play??)
Nunez

this wont happen as klopp wont swap. but until we have mf reinforcements we need to tighten up.
thoughts please ?

Thiago will probably be rested for Naby and Fab will come in for Elliott. Agreed that Carvalho should start ahead of Ox. At least he can find the net.

Guess we'll find out in next couple of hours or so whether gakpo's paperwork has went through. If it has id throw him in straight from the start, why not, hes fit as a fiddle, worry about tactics with him later. Just let him loose like we did with diaz last season.

If the paperworks not through then anyone but ox up there. The guys finished with us. 2 starts where he has offered so little.

Fab in for Hendo
Keita in for Elliot
Training cone in for Ox.

We all know it will be the 433.
Would just like to see 4231 to try and tighten up.
To just keep the same tactics and tweak the personnel, then wondering why we keep conceding is the definition of insanity

I’d keep him in the middle and hope it clicks with his finishing. If he’s registered then we have Gakpo who can start on the left or Carvalho if not. As has been said, anyone but Ox. He just doesn’t look like he’s capable of making something happen, a complete waste of a position.

I think he’ll get chances wherever he plays across the front 3 purely because of his movement and speed.

Also we had no width down the left last game with Nunez in the middle, the ox is fackin useless.

Hope Toney isn't risked against us tonight. Don't fancy his directness and pace against our back line. Not a criticism of their style as Brentford can play decent stuff when they want, but fully expecting them to try and exploit the high line tonight in an effort to get the points.

I have to say carvalho looked pretty forlorn on the bench v Leicester when ox came off and then Elliott came off in his lw slot.

gakpo needs to be done and registered by 12 noon and I sincerely doubt it as klopp even said he can't train with thr team until its done.

I'd have to say if milner is alright I'd go for 433 and stxik him on for Henderson on 60mins and tell the captain if he's going to wander about aimlessly he might as well do it pressing as advanced midfielder.

if lfc had money this window I'd have a new rcm in first.
