Enic are the constants

We've had the hero ex-player ones
The can't speak English ones
The rookie ones
The young up and coming ones
The long term project ones
The trophy collector elite ones
The old timer experienced ones
The pragmatic defensive ones
The attack at all costs ones

In the past 22 years we have had every type of manager you can think of at Spurs. But 2 things have remained constant, dire lack of silverware and you know what the other is

For things to really change at THFC, we need a drastic change in how the football side is run. Because whatever they've done for 22 years hasn't worked, and continues to fail.

If you accept that even if the owners were thinking of moving on, it could take 3-5 years to find a buyer for their price, probably longer.

With that in mind, does it not make sense to look at that list the OP has provided and choose the most successful of those manager to steer the ship in the meantime?

If your aim is to make Levy spend beyond the levels he currently does - it won't happen.

If your aim is to get him to sell up - it won't happen for years.

Surely you can see that. No amount of pressure from Conte will change any of those two things.

In fact, if this fan pressure is pushing ENIC out, it's more likely to slow down spending completely. Why would you invest in anything you'll barely see a return from in 3-5 years?

How long did it take the scousers to get rid of shocks and Gillette - it can happen quickly.

To borrow a phrase you used the other day - I would rather be at the bottom of the new owner ladder than half way up the Levy stays ladder.

Firing Pochettino was a massive mistake for Levy purely because it was the cheapest option, but that seems to always be the case. We have never had a manager for a long period that was consistently backed. In hindsight, should have kept him, brought in Paratici and given them funds.

Can’t disagree with that - back Poch and we’re probably sat top 4 playing great stuff.

But Danny went with the quick fix managers and then didn’t back them like they need to be in order to be successful - he is a business genius and footballing idiot, Maf level idiot

OP Why are you limiting yourself to ENIC and the last 22 years. What about the whole entire PL era, pre-ENIC? Have ENIC turned us from greats to gash?

Good point
Well for starters, 1990 -2000 we won 2 trophies, double enics haul in 22 years
And we all know the 80s was a golden era comparatively, albeit in those years we weren't as consistently in the top 6 in the league

Its daft to judge us only on trophies won (or not won). Say we picked up another 2 league cups in the last 20 years, but bobbed around mid table, doing what West Ham do most seasons.

We want it all. I get that and i get the total frustration at the 1 step forward, 2 back , that we seem to do too often.

But everyone is an expert in hindsight. There is no certinanty that Poch would have turned us round and made us a winning machine and certainly his career since has shown his limitations. In his last 24 league games we won 7 matches and from Feb to when he was sacked in Oct, we didnt win away. There were issues which ENIC contributed to but they were not the sole cause.

I am super frustrated by this season, but its not too late, we're still well place but the form is poor. What i want to see different from ENIC is to react. We have clear deficiencies in the squad which are costing us, in terms of quality and depth. If we do nothing then top4 and the wealth of the UCL will be impossible. This MUST drive ENIC to invest now, react to the very clear issues, chuck a bit of money at it to make it happen. We must have money in the bank. I read we have baulked at £40m for Porro. I know not whether hes any good, worth it or not, but surely we should be expecting to pay this amount, at least if we are to improve our squad. Its just rumours and probably BS but this sort of thing concerns me. I am prepared to be patient as we build a squad to challenge but we need some quality and that costs!

Our competitors think nothing of paying £40m+ for new players, they have expensive players all around the pitch, whereas Levy balks at paying that much, instead he prefers a scatter gun approach and hopes he unearths a gem.

Levy wants £60m players for £12m - no matter how unrealistic it is, he keeps trying
