FA Cup is back

Still love the FA Cup. Its a competition in which low to mid prem teams should be taking seriously. It is still a free hit in regards to losing won't affect our league position, but its ideal to keep the season alive and interesting as well as keeping fringe players involved for longer. We've beaten Liverpool away, Chelsea at home and gave Arsenal and Spurs the run around in our games this season, so there is no doubt, on our day, we should be able to finally reach the latter stages and give it a good go. Safety is paramount, but trophies and finals are there to be won. Our FA cup record is nothing short of embarrassing however, with 7 defeats out of 9 when playing a team in a lower division, they include Hereford United, Histon Town, Rochdale, Sutton United and Newport County. We haven't won an FA cup 3rd round tie since 2017 when we beat Cambridge away 2-1.

As for Cardiff on Sunday, they are a typical bogey side. They sit 20th in the championship and its arguably the biggest gulf in quality between the two sides since they beat us in 2002. They have beaten us 16 times out of the last 25, but this one looks like it will be heading in our favour as we sit 26 places higher than them in the football pyramid. Cardiff have also been hit with a sickness bug, with 6 first teamers reportedly doubtful.

Hopefully Wober features, would also like to see Gyabi play and would probably give Firpo and Geldhart run outs.

Your thoughts?

Has Wober's work permit been granted yet?

7000 fans are going to other side of the country.

Got to put out good side and go for it

Club stated today that 600 tickets remain. Not like us to not sell out. Its a heck of a trek to Wales.

Can’t see nothing other than a fringe team and struggle to avoid early exit.

Robles
Drameh Llorente Wober Firpo
Greenwood Forshaw Gyabi
Summerville Joffy Harrison

I would really like to see us going for this and getting a comfortable win. Most importantly, our defence needs a confidence booster, so it's an opportunity to vary our set up, perhaps with Wober starting at left back and Pascal beside Koch in the centre and Rasmus on the right. Then in the second half, we could bring on Drameh and Coops to see how that looks. We could also look at Firpo and Llorente, just to get them some minutes, if we are well ahead with thirty seconds to go.
I would keep Gnonto and Rod on the bench, and see what Joffy, Harrison, Summerville and Aaronson can do. It's important for Aaronson to keep his place after that mistake. A goal would be perfect for him right now.
Finally, Adams and Gyabi would make an interesting double pivot in the middle.
This match is a great opportunity to test out some strategies with no risk attached. After all, we're not playing Histon, are we?

Shaun, did you seriously say ‘but this one looks like it will be heading in our favour as we sit 26 places higher than them in the football pyramid’? Have you learnt nothing from our past FA Cup exploits? Whatever the gulf in class, difference in division or run of form we may be in at the time, Leeds are easy pickings in the FA Cup and every other team knows it. We’re probably the most giantkilled team in British football and I don’t expect anything to change anytime soon but I’d love the lads to prove me wrong for once. Go on punks, make my day!

Agree with everything you said. We are 'The' joke side of the competition. But Cardiff are junk atm and we have better depth than we've had over the last 10 years or so. We've always fielded junk teams full of league 2 level kids, now, our fringe side is better than Cardiff. Our 3rd best RB was there player of the season ffs.

Will be stumped if we get beat tbh

Does that mean any team playing a lower team shouldn't lose?..

So when we were a 3rd div team we shouldn't have beat ManU, I mean, were we not more than 26 places below them?..

Cup games are something all clubs should take seriously, and that's the main reason shocks do happen!..

We shouldn't have beaten them no. Shocks happen but they should be rare. Cardiff shouldn't be beating us given how bad a season they are having.

So you don't think any club below another has the right to win!..

Happens every year and they're not very rare, and Leeds ain't the only one's it happens to!..
