Gnonto, Summerville, Adams and Rodrigo's goals will be why we stay up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And Meslier's saves

Anyone concerned about the Lammens rumours?

Yes, me. It screams Mes is being looked at this window
or the summer. I can see the club selling him and rolling
with Robles + Lammens.

Gnonto very impressive so far bar one part of his game.
His petulance.
Arguing the toss v West Ham costs him card when he should have just got back 10 yards.
Diving today then arguing the toss agin with ref, another yellow card.
These are the stupidest of things to be getting cards for, we could do without him picking up bans.

Not really I see Joel Robles as a player coach. I doubt his contract is that much. Other teams have three senior goalkeepers. Leeds have ambitions to be a top European team, they have to start somewhere.

Gnonto was excellent today. When all around him were being substituted he just kept on running and posing an attacking threat. Only way Cardiiff could handle his skill and energy was to try and kick lumps out of him.

Not sure I would prioritise goal keeping position above others might be a sign our number 1 is on the move.

We’re always signing 20 year old keepers and moving others on. It’s like vic has a thing for them. No way lamens is for the first team.
Personally, I like meslier but i still see him as a work in progress. I keep hearing his saves have saved our season but I see him making largely regulation saves - and there’s been a few this season he could have done better on. He’s towards the bottom of PL shot saving stats for the last few years… and rock bottom of the distribution stats. Now they’re just algorithms and it’s not all on him by any means. He’s much improved on commanding his area - But he’s not irreplaceable in my opinion. If someone wants to pay big for his potential, I can live with it.

Where are you getting these stats that says his shot stopping is towards bottom of prem for last few years?

I am not sure that's a true picture Jonty. Using those stats, that Ederson guy is appauling.

I’m not going on total saves Jonty… So that will be the confusion. He saves more because he faces more.
You can look at % of shots saved - where he was good first year in the Prem and bottom half last year and this, but that doesn’t account for style of play, types of shot faced etc.
But the one I look at is a kind of ‘expected saves’ There’s a thing called post-shot expected goals against (ps- xgA ) - basically expected goals against - but counting only shots on target so it factors in angle, distance etc. The idea being you then compare that to actual goals conceded. Not perfect by any stretch, but a better guide than the others in my view. Mes was ‘mid-table first year for this and bottom half last year and this year.
Anyway stats are just stats... For me mes is great for his age, but not yet the finished article.
If you’re having trouble sleeping… here’s a bunch of keeper stats including the ones mentioned:
