Mixed Feelings About QSI

I have mixed feelings about the possible investment of QSI into Spurs (and possible eventual takeover).

On the one hand, like every football fan, I’d like my club to have a bottomless pit of money, to sign whoever they want and to win trophies (big trophies) on a regular basis.

On the other hand, I have seen Liverpool’s experience with Gillette and Hicks. Blackburn’s with Venkys. QPR’s with Tony Fernandes, to name but a few. And I remember that not every takeover is successful and that some can be quite damaging…..for years to come.

I know it’s early days, but I’m not sure Boehly’s ownership of Chelsea has got off to a good start. Yes, he’s spending like there’s no tomorrow, but look at the state of the team’s performances. Also, clearly Abramovich brought enormous success to Chelsea, but the political situation caught up with him and Chelsea could have collapsed as a result.

So yes, I would welcome additional investment which would result in increased funds to sign and retain players, but money is not the only ingredient. We need good management on and off the field and the club’s owners must have integrity. Perhaps QSI can tick all the boxes and maybe the human rights situation in Qatar might not come back to bite us in the future, but these things need to checked out thoroughly. It just can’t the case of getting into bed with anyone because they’ve got lots of money.

It's nothing but a publicity stunt in my opinion, the fans are now talking about outside investment rather than ousting ENIC & Levy.

Another masterstroke from Blofeld.

This could be true but Spurs have said they will answer some questions in feb to the Trust.

What I love most about this topic is you just know it won’t happen and they will invest in West Ham instead who will suddenly become Champions League regulars. We will go from arguing about the morality of the situation to having Maf wum us daily as West Ham start winning every trophy whilst Levy spends 6 months haggling over a tenners difference for our managers number 1 target

Something is going on. The £150m ENIC "injected" means the club is worth more than what it was worth, so potential buyers or investors will have to pay more.

One thing for certain it's purpose was not help the team.

ENIC look out for ENIC first before the team.

Far too much is being made out of this link between QSI and Spurs.

QSI may be looking to invest, but there is little substance behind the Spus link and aparently Levy & the QSI chief know each other and both sit on some European football Board together.

Its pretty lazy journalism and all unsubstantiated and will no doubt be a stick for opposition fans to beat us with, or indeed our own fans to beat Levy with, if it doesnt come to pass.

Its just like a shiiit transfer rumour. Some take it as gospel, others use their brain and see what happens by deadline day.

Also don't they have pull out of PSG before investing is Spurs? Until they do so then it is just speculation.

no.

They cannot have a controlling interest in more than 1 club. They own PSG and own 22% of Braga and want 25% of Spurs according to reports..

BTW Braga have spent £3.5m on transfers in each of the last 2 seasons...so lets not hold our breath

#thfc Told Levy & Nasser Al-Khelaifi met in a London hotel last week, with exploratory talks over equity on the agenda. The club denies this. Piece on why a partnership between Spurs & Qatar would raise uncomfortable questions but potentially suit both.
