VAR Bad decisions..?

Any incidents in Scottish Football, you can think of, where VAR has got it wrong?

1. Bernabei pen (Utd)
2. MOR pen (R.C)
3. Michael Smith Handball - No pen. (Hearts)
4. Liel Abada goal - Offside apparently.. (Hearts)
5. Craig Sibbald studs in GGs face - No card (Livi)
6. Turnbull studs up on keeper -VAR gives Red card
7. Jota 'offside' goal - Camera at other end of the pitch
8. Ralston Diving header - No goal (Hearts)
9. Liel Abada goal - Offside apparently..(Livi)
10. Goldson handball - Nothing to see there apparently
11. Goldson handball vs Sheep - Goal given for Rangers
12. GG hands around Killie player - No pen.
13. Abada shirt pulled in box - no pen (St. Mirren) 18.01.23
14. Pen for Rangers (LOL) Red card(LOL) 28.01
15. No Red for Jack, studs up.
16. Connor Goldson playing basketball in the box vs Hearts
17. Sakala offside goal - Motherwell
18. James Sands last man, pulls down R.C striker - no Red.

We'll keep a running record. for the craic.

Rangers have an incredible run of no penalties against.
It’s the 2nd run in a little over 3 years.

1st run of 44 games not conceding a penalty in the league was January 2020 to April 2021.

2nd run of 51 (a record in Scotland) from January 2022 to present day.

Amazing, well done Rangers

Interestingly per the SPFL's stats centre (https://spfl.co.uk/stats-centre), Rangers have had the most shots and most shots on target in the league so far this season. Glad we can now dispel the myth of Celtic being the more attacking team (if not the better goalscoring team)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow. Another trophy. What a season you guys are having.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The point has clearly gone over your head. One of the main points on this article was that Celtic are more attacking team so should get more penalties.

Not sure it should be surprising that Celtic work clearer opportunities and are more clinical.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It hasn't gone over my head at all.

First of all he talks about how the stays dispel a myth.

First of all, there is no myth.

Secondly these stats would not dispel one even if it existed.

All it does is indicate that Rangers are a more direct team with less finesse. It does not prove that they are more attacking.

You should maybe think things through before you start with your stupid, smug sarcasm.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Your response completely missed the pointNot sure the thought process on how more shots on goal indicates we are a more direct team? Shots on goal are clearly a greater indicator of a team being attack/around the box, you know where you get pens. And not an indicator of style of play.

And did you watch us under GioIt was a welcome relief from the slow laboured possession when Goldson took responsibility and tried to switch it or go long. The slow style of play didn’t work.

Happy that under Beale we’ve played with a higher tempo and been more direct.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is simple.

Celtic get the ball around the opposition box and keep passing to build better quality opportunities. They score more goals.

Rangers get within shooting distance and shoot. More shots, fewer goals.

This is no way suggests that Rangers are a more attacking team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yea that was exactly my point where I said Celtic work better opportunities…

Don’t think anyone was arguing that Rangers were more attacking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think WPP was arguing exactly that.
Mind you I only based my assumption on his comment that Celtic being more attacking was a 'myth' so I could have misinterpreted it.

I was more making a facetious point that it's a futile pursuit to make generalisms about which team is the "more attacking" based on headline stats such as goals or shots, but it's not as fun when you need to explain it.

I don't understand why you'd want more penalties. Winning trophies by being awarded fewer penalties is an indication of a team playing a style of football that means that the opposition isn't even in a position to prevent goals by fouling in the box.

Look at the space Kyogo gets in to for his goals against Rangers

Was curious to look at the list of points made in the OP.

Bernabei pen (Utd)
https://youtu.be/ZsojzlFtjb8 (incident at 1m30sec)

After a header on target the ball hits his arm which is raised behind him after competing for the ball.

Handball – Law 12
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm which has made their body unnaturally bigger.
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm when it is above their shoulder (unless the player has deliberately played the ball which then touches their hand/arm).

Either rule could be accepted in this case.

Turnbull red card
https://youtu.be/TPa6OMBUBVk

Turnbull attempts to win a ball that's over head hight while the keeper runs out to collect the ball.

SERIOUS FOUL PLAY
Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.

Another pretty straight forward decision

The GG high boot

Sibbald did slightly touch the ball with his studs and then hit GG in the mid section. Good arguments for a yellow. OH was yellow carded for a much higher boot and potentially dangerous challenge v Killie where he was yellow carded.

So no real complaints about obvious misses

I believe both Goldsons hand balls v Celtic should have been penalised. However, there is a rule that prevents any action if the defender is protecting his face providing it doesn't make his body bigger. You might not like it but there's at least some justification.

God this is easy 😂

Goldson handball vs Sheep

The ball rolls down the top of his arm hitting his shoulder first. Not in an unnatural position or dictating the movement of the ball.

Abada shirt pulled in box - no pen (St. Mirren)

St Mirren defender extends his arm and actually misses Abada. Tugs on shirts are so easy to spot these days. Abada then falls forward, something that doesn't happen if you are pulled back.
