Will probably not get into the pl team of the year due to the rest of our team and defenders around him being a mess but my god, what a season he is having.
Impeccable game after game and rarely at fault for any goal conceded.
Shout out to Kepa's upturn in perfomances and form but Thiago Silva has been the best CB in the league this year.
As soon as someone capable has come in to play along side him (even without James and Chillwell) in Badiashile, suddenly we are keeping clean sheets again.
Silva's performances are putting himself up there to challenge for that spot alongside JT in our PL all time 11.
Reminds me of a defensive version of Hazard in that he's been carrying poor players around him week after week.
Let's get that contract extension signed!
Thiago Silva

I feel he is often ignored even when hes amazing because now we expect it and give all the attention to the awful players in the side…everyone else.
One of the best defenders we've ever had, hands down.

Class player …like others have said i thought he would struggle in the prem at his age and was coming for one last pay day
One of the best centre backs around still ….makes defending seem effortless
Maybe playing in lesser leagues has helped prolong his career ….8 years in France at the best team he must have been coasting a bit

Good article Nick. In a season which hasn’t exactly been a roaring success for us he is the one constant that has still been at the top of his game. Should have been our player of the last season for me instead of Mount so hopefully that will be put right for this season’s award.

Is kind of an anomaly of a player, to come into a league like the PL at his age and being a little on the smaller side, it could have gone badly but he's been brilliant. If he spent more time in the league and played here at his peak I think he'd be in the conversation for the best CBs in PL history.

Now Kante's body is failing him, he's our only player now who'd stack a claim for getting into our mid/late 00's squad. And that's at his age now, in his peak he'd have started ahead of Terry or Carvalho.
When Azpi leaves, assuming he's still here I'd make him captain personally. He's left that big of an impression.
