Celtic, who are - let's not forget - 9 points ahead of us in the league and current champions, have made 4 new signings...quickly and fairly quietly.
We on the other hand after weeks of media noise, rumour, claim and counter claim, have signed only one! Is it just a question of lack of money, and we have to painfully and slowly submit bid after bid and hope that at the 11th hour we eventually get close enough to the seller's valuation of their player for a sale to be agreed? Is cash so scarce that almost every single pound counts even at the risk of losing out on our manager's targets? OR is there a lack of quality on our board leading to poor decision-making? The next 4 days might provide some answers

As an aside, I’m surprised we seem to be selling GG for as little as £4m, for a proven goal scorer who gave us an alternative physical dimension (in a squad that lacks that). Looks at least a couple of mill light to me.

Unlike us which would suggest we agreed a minimum sell on clause in his contract.
Or he was promised something we didn’t deliver. Which is exactly like us

Agreed.
I think he's leaving due to reduced game time.
If we played him he'd stay.
(yes I know Kyogo)

Happy to see GG go, especially for so little, as he's your best forward in my opinion. Not as exciting as Kyogo but more effective.

Might be better waiting to see how this new guy performs.
Be careful what you wish for

You've got that completely the wrong way round.

Don’t really care how we do business if we get the right players.
We did great business in the last year with the fees received. Issue has been we’ve not improved the xi, except Tilman who is still young and took time to get fully up to speed. Cantwell looks like he’s had a good impact today too.

Kyogo was £4.6m - was that a bit light or do we only think that when we're selling?

Got some sympathy with the board on this one and not really sure comparisons to Celtic are all that relevant.
It's clear Raskin is our target and he's out of contract at the end of the season. Standard are holding out for £2.5m and 20% sell on, should we give them that when we can get him for nothing in a few months? Personally I'd prefer not to, particularly with the sell on as that could take the overall fee to £4.5/£5m. For anyone out of contract that's pretty substantial never mind at our level.
Either way though looks like that one is now a done deal. If Beale ends up with 3 players this window and all are his preferred target then I'm not that fussed if it takes a couple of weeks longer than another club.

My worry is/was that as we p**s about over relatively small sums some other club (Napoli?) comes in and does a quick deal with the selling club and we run risk of missing out on our manager's target for sake of a few hundred thousand. Plus, not keen on us looking like cheapskates in eyes of any potential target.
As you say it looks like the Raskin deal is now done, so our attention switches to Whittaker. Could be a reasonable window if Beale secures his 3 main targets. As ever, I'd have liked to have shifted a few off the wage bill, but presumably that''ll be done in the summer
