Djed Spence

https://twitter.com/eurofootcom/status/1620472023230324738?s=46&t=2RYjePV2kBDwo85PPRlT4Q

Just want to wish Djed Spence all the luck in the world and hope he absolute smashes it in France. Apparently he turned down loan moves to Atletico Madrid etc in favour of Rennes because he knew he would get more game time due to a couple of Rennes injuries. What a fantastic attitude he’s got

I thought he’s been treated appallingly by Spurs and that includes Antonio. I don’t care what anyone says, Spence should have been given more opportunities when you consider the utter cr** we have been witnessing most the season at RWB.

Hopefully has a successful loan spell and comes back strong with a positive attitude and can battle with Porro for that RWB spot next season. Get rid of Sessegnon and Emerson this summer leaving us with wing back options of Udoggie , Perisic LWB and Porro, Spence RWB. Finally moving forward certainly in those positions

Think about how many players we will have to get rid of this summer🤣

NDombele
GLC
Winks
Reggie (I’d bring him back to fight with Udogie)
Emerson
Lloris
Dier
Sess
Tanganga
Sanchez
Davies

That’s 11 and I’ve probably missed some and people could add to that list with players they don’t rate. Considering we’ve only managed to shift one or two players in sales over the last few windows, we’re looking at years to shift this lot.

We look at our incomings and wonder what’s going on but it’s the outgoings at our club that is where we are equally as poor. This is then used as the excuse for not buying.

You get a player in, give them two seasons and if they’re not up to it get rid. At that point their stock hasn’t fallen as low as they do when they’re still at Spurs after 4 or 5 years and you take less of a hit.

Wouldn`t think either Emerson or Sanchez will leave. Conte rates them both. The rest though can all go.

I wish him well, but he is clearly another Championship player that could not cut it at a Prem club, bit like Jack Clarke.

I suspect his level is down a league or two.

Have you ever considered supporting a championship club?

Yeh, wish him well and hope he smashes it.

We really are a mess, with lots of surplus players to get rid of, but all the clubs abroad are skint so shifting them is proving difficult.

On to the summer window, and lots to do still, we need a new #1 GK, 2 x CB, an upgrade on Hojbjerg, another forward to replace Lucas, an attacking midfielder and maybe a striker if Kane is sold.

ENIC OUT.

On the basis that Conte is probably off in the summer, I think Spurs will still need at least one new full back in the summer since the next manager is more likely to play a back 4 (most do, after all)

Spence and Porro are natural RWBs (Emerson is used to a back 4 tbf)

LB would be even more of a concern:

- Reguilon is presumably on his way
- Udogie is VERY attacking and I think has always played LWB
- Perisic turns 34 tomorrow and has never played LB (jury is still out as a LWB since he can't defend)
- Sessegnon is gash.

Obviously it can work having attacking full backs in a flat back 4, but Spurs need to pick a manager who plays the right system. It might seem like overthinking but you only have to look at Reguilon who said how difficult he found it to learn the positioning to play LWB versus LB.

Just another day in the world of muddled planning that is Tottenham Hotspur

Why would I do that after supporting Spurs for nearly 65 years? Strange post mate.

That said I did support Spurs when they were relegated, which is probably more than most on here would have.

Spence has been done up like a see u next tues by Levy and Conte. Who would have thought we signed another RB/RWB in the Jan window.... wtf when we already signed the most promsing one in the country.....before you say it Porro's ability is also potential never played in the prem either so a gamble the same as Spence.

If I were Spence I'd work me socks off and play the best footy I can at Rennes and when I come back from loan hand in a transfer request as the two toss pots deserve it.

He's been very badly treated. To think he was behind someone in the pecking order who we'd happily terminate the contract for just to get them out of the club. I mean what does that say for Spence?

I'm pleased for the lad, hopefully he'll be a lot happier now and come back a better footballer for it.
