Ronaldo never admitted guilt and the criminal case was dropped. He was (unlike Greenwood) never charged. A separate civil action was settled in 2010. And an attempt to overturn was dismissed by a US judge in 2022.

Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. It was not the case he was found *not* to have committed the aforementioned offences but there "was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction."

Which is fairly typical of the UK judicial system as under 1% of sexual assault cases ever lead to a conviction.

Courts don’t find people innocent. It’s guilty or not guilty. The fact they cant even make it to court means he is not guilty.

The Greenwood case never went to court, and no judgement was handed down. The CPS concluded (as are required to use public money prudently and responsibly) the chances of a conviction were no longer realistic.

It means that having considered EVERYTHING, the EXPERTS aren’t convinced that a jury (could be you, me, Elvis, Baz) would find him guilty.

My position on the matter (in the real world might I add) has always been, there xould be an explanation, lets see what comes out in the wash.

As it turns out, that was the right position to take, as the CPS have abandoned even trying to prove him guilty.
