Morning All
Just a quick one... with Greaves record in the bag, the England record around the corner and fitness permitting, Shearer's PL on the horizon.... Does H really need to leave Spurs to validate his career ?
Obviously, this might get taken out of his hands if he doesn't sign a new contract and Levy is forced to sell him in the last year of his deal BUT..
I cannot for the life of me see how Kane possibly leaving to join United etc and perhaps winning a league cup or 2 really makes any difference ? The amount of crap players who have league medals without achieving 1% of what Kane has kinda puts this argument about him not winning anything to bed for me.
I can't see how not winning anything because he didn't jump ship to a team who could win a trophy without him anyway detracts from his career one bit..... Is Grealish a better player beacuse he now has League cup and PL winners medal compared to what he was at Villa.. they could easily have won those without him.
What seems to be forgotten in this whole narrative is that football is a team game and it's the collective strength of the team and manager that makes you a winner. The whole idea of Kane moving to a trophy pig team does nothing for his legacy in my mind..... He's place i in history is more than secure.
Thoughts ?
Question Re Kane

He shouldn't need to leave in order to validate how good he is. Anyone that isn't dumb knows that if he were playing for a bigger or better team that vies for trophies a lot of the time, he would have a few to his name already.
He might need to to validate his career, as in someone who is that good should be able to look back on their career with silverware, because let's be honest how likely is that to happen at Spurs? He may get to win a domestic cup of some description if he stays, if he's lucky. That should not be enough. If I was him I'd certainly want more than that and from what he's said in the past that's how he feels.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think he needs to validate his ability any more, but he may need to validate his ambition this summer. Again, not a dig, as much as it'd be kinda nice to see Spurs finally win some silverware, it's probably not going to happen anytime in the next 2 years is it? If he's 30 now, he's going to have one big contract left in his football career, on a personal level for him I think his right move is abroad. On a personal level for me (generic football fan), I'd love to see him playing at OT every other week
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? We got as chance as anyone of winning the FA cup.

I'm not trying to wum or anything but would Spurs fans feel sick if Kane went to United and United then won the PL the following season? Say, finishing a point or two ahead of City or Chelsea?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No.
If Kane leaves then City and United are the two most palatable clubs in England for him to go to. We have no real issue with United other than Fergie kidnapping Berbatov and giving us Frazier Campbell in return.
However, I can’t see any point going to United, you finished below us last season and despite you guys being amazing and us dog Schitt, you’re only 3 points above us currently - a league cup isn’t going to be a difference maker
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah but you have to factor int he fact we were a mess from the previous regime going into the season, and the first two games we had 0 points,
Also, you move Kane to the Utd team, that's surely work 4-8 points so far which puts us right in contention. Plus we may will finish with silverware, it depends entirely on Kanes ambitions. He seemed keen to move to City last summer.
Although I agree, moving to Utd doesn't guarantee titles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree, Spurs have been in disarray whilst United is a happy camp and Rashford is in the form of his life - yet you haven’t been able to pull away from us so far.
For what it’s worth I think United will likely finish third and Spurs 4th, United probably winning the League cup and is nothing.
Is that enough of a lure? I don’t think so. I think if it was Fergie at United then he would have been there years ago.
We’ve just got to hope that we make the most of our chances in the FA cup this year - win that and he probably spends the rest of his career with us.

Let`s put it like this
Phil Neal won 23 trophies including charity shields with Liverpool
Alan Shearer is the record Prem goalscorer, one trophy.
I don`t think Phil Neal has ever been mentioned since the 1980s, whereas Shearer is mentioned practically every day for being the record scorer.

Personally I think Kane is a breath of fresh air and a leading example to all other pro players out there.
Too many players just chase the trophies, jump about from club to club to rack up as many as possible.
Kane deserve praise for choosing his boyhood club over winning things.
Fair play Kane not many have the integrity he does.
Kane will retire content that he choose the love of his club over ever success. a rare trait today.

Individual honours and accolades usurp any team medals, and winning medals with Spurs would be way more satisfying for Kane than winning some cheap medals at the money clubs and those teams dragged along to trophies by referees.
Kane could stay at Spurs for all his career, be a one club man and break almost every goal scoring record there is, that is some legacy to leave behind. Any trophies would be the icing on the cake.
Who knows what Kane is thinking, but he will be missed by all Spurs fans if he ever left, and I`m not sure how we replace him, given how Levy operates.

thoughts?
Its not your mind that matters.
Its Harry Kane's mind..
He is the guy that matters. If he wants some silverware, then its off to Real Madrid.
