Qatar

There’s an exclusive in the Fail tonight that Qatar have officially declared their interest in United and will be bidding for the club.

They’re confident their offer will be the strongest and they’re aiming to back Ten Hag with a huge war chest.

’They will make an offer for United in the coming days, ahead of the mid-February deadline set by the Glazers, and are confident their bid will blow the competition out of the water.’

Mike Keegan @MikeKeegan_DM
Investors see United as ‘football’s crown jewels’. Aware of need to redevelop/rebuild OT. They want to take club back to ‘rightful place’. Source says there’s ‘a steely determination’ to get the deal done. #mufc

What comes after this then when half of the teams in the PL are owned by oil murderers? How does someone get the edge after that? Can't all buy the players they want or get the managers they want. Having the most fans won't count for anything as that kind of money is far more powerful than any number of fans.

Maybe a better direction is to discourage it, put off the oil murderers from taking over the English game? Money talks though and you get brainwashed into thinking it's ok.

If this is the QSI then they already own PSG and could not own both.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Mail's rumour is that "a group of private, high-wealth individuals based in" Qatar will be making a bid.

So a collective outside of QSI.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Will probably be the same guys or some of the same guys if the curtain is removed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quite likely I'd imagine. But the footballing authorities won't give a shiiiiit about that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think they might this time around.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do you think that?

On balance I’d think both the PL and UEFA would be very happy to see a Qatari group take control at United, not least because it’d be another nail in the coffin of the ESL.

The PL won’t be remotely interested in connections with PSG (analogous connections already exist with other PL ownerships), and UEFA haven’t seemed bothered historically either.

How would it be another nail in the coffin of the ESL? Qataris owners are more likely to join an ESL than almost anyone else.

With the furore around City, I think they could be more astute with future dealings. After all, we wouldn't be in this mess if hey could do their job properly in the first place.

They may not have seemed bothered but everything has a limit. At what point does it go from football to a joke league with the same owners owning or having an interest in most of the clubs?

They can own both but won't be able to play in the same European competition. They'd likely prioritise us over PSG
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No they cannot. They can be part owners of one (or more) while being full owners of another but not majority owners in 2 clubs

The PSG ownership has spoken about being offered hundreds of millions to join ESL, and about turning it down and telling the Spanish clubs and Juve to do one.

Then this subsequently:

They’re against the proposal and don’t want to have anything to do with it.

“At what point does it go from football to a joke league with the same owners owning or having an interest in most of the clubs?”

Which other league sides do these particular Qatari investors have stakes in?

Of course they are against it now that it's fallen flat on it's face. If it had happened they'd have been permanently facked sideways by being out of it and they know it.

City Football Club were happy with it, and were one of the founding members. They can say that now but City failing to join a Super League which all the other big clubs agree to join would be suicidal.

It's more likely PSG were left out rather than turned down an offer to join the ESL.

This Sheikh being linked to United is the same one that owns PSG, right? So under the rules he can't own majority share of two football clubs in the CL? So how the fack is he even linked? Is he selling PSG or a majority stake in PSG?

It was very widely reported that Bayern and PSG both refused invitations to join the ESL.

You can choose to believe what you want of course, but I don’t believe any party involved has contradicted these stories.
